Just right for the price
By Talvi
We wanted a second TV that we could put in the playroom for our kids who are getting older who want to watch educational TV or mommy who wants to watch Downton Abbey at the same time daddy wants to watch sports. Because we know who gets the main TV in that case. Therefore, we weren't looking for something expensive or gigantic. And happily, this TV is just right for us.Overall, this is a solid TV and great value for the money. It's doesn't have all latest features but it does all the obvious things you want from a TV well. The picture quality is sharp and the viewing angle is fairly good - you can watch it from off to the left or right without it darkening badly.Pros: Good picture quality and size Can view pictures on a USB drive Nice clean all-black finish, looks good Menus are easy to navigate and straightforward - too often these are really complicated! Has VGA and 3.5mm input so can hook up to a PC fairly easilyCons: Base isn't adjustable 720P max resolution. If you have a Blu Ray drive or something higher resolution it will max at 720P. Headphone audio out in an awkward spot on the back.Inputs and outputs: 2 X HDMI Component Composite RF Coaxial VGA 3.5mm audio in USB Headphone audio outJust from a "how does it look" perspective - it looks great. And my costume dramas look marvelous! An extra note - measures 31" wide and 23" tall (with the base screwed on).

died -- customer service is a hassle!!!

WARNING!!!!! DO NOT BUY!!!This TV's picture just dies about 10 months after buying it. Thankfully, it was still under warranty-- but trying to get warranty work done was absolutely painful.First I was to take the TV for a futile 115 mile round trip to the repair shop (they have one in Southern California- Escondido) which was closed during business hours. After complaining, I was told they would come down to get it. 2 weeks later I was told that they had cancelled our work order and we would have to start again- which I did. i ordered an in- house repair.2 weeks after that and several excuses why they had not come, we were informed that we would need to take the TV to the office- they could not come down to get it. No way was I taking another 115 mile trip to a phantom shop to get work done and lose another half day of work!I called Haier who said that they would send me a letter to sign that enables me to effectively return the TV- which was just sending a sticker from the back of the TV and signing an affidavit saying that I would dispose of the TV.I did what they asked and 2 weeks later found out that I sent the wrong sticker-- They wanted me to send another one. I called and argued for them to send my TV first, because they had lied to me all along and I did not trust them. They agreed to do that as long as I promised to send in the label on the back.Almost 2 weeks later and still no TV, I call and am informed that they will NOT be sending me the TV until they receive the sticker. I argue again over a couple days and phone calls.By this time, My warranty has almost run out-- and they agree to send me a check for the amount of the TV- because they no longer had these TV's in stock.2 weeks... still waiting for my check...

Excellent TV and Value
By Smitty of ONE
I was lucky enough to get this TV on the lightning deal, so the price was phenomenal. Ordered on a Friday and it arrived on Monday, amazing. I did not even 'need' this TV, but I figured if I got it for the lightning deal price I could use it. I am actually using this to replace a 42" non HDTV in a guest bedroom, this fits the bill, it is an appropriate size for a spare bedroom, the 42" was to big. The room feels bigger now.Overall Impression:TV came well packed and was very light. My only experience to date with flat screens were older much larger models, these always required at least two people to move, I was able to move this by myself, as well as unpack it by myself with ease. There is basically zero documentation, but it was not necessary. After hooking up the proper power and input cords I turned it on and was welcomed with a wizard program to walk me through the installation. In my case it was a terrestrial antenna and a Roku (HDMI). As mentioned earlier all my other TV's were older, but regardless, this Haier was able to get more over the air stations then I could get with the other three. This TV was located on my upper floor so this may have contributed to it.This is also my first LCD panel, all the others were plasma which I swore by, but I am now convinced that LCD is as good. The viewing angle and deep blacks are all there. Color is great with only a few tweaks. There is a bit of motion blur, but that may just be me over analyzing it. I will monitor it more.HDTV stations and programs look awesome, standard def looks poor, this is par for any HDTV these days in my opinion. As this is only a 32" panel 720p is more than enough unless you want to use it in PC mode for 1080p. There are very few true 1080P signals anyway. Our main TV's have Directv, which aside from some on demand pay per view stuff is 720p anyway. Blu-rays are a different game, but I highly doubt you could tell the difference on a 32" panel.Pro's:-Super light. One man setup.-Very easy setup via wizard menu.-Good color, nice blacks, and surprisingly good viewing angle.-Good enough inputs for casual use.-Remote has all functions. There are no buttons that can't be accessed via the remote that you can or can not do on the TV itself.-Zero dead pixels (I checked), or hotspots, I actually expected some minor issues, there were zero.Cons:-Really, really glossy. This is not an issue with the TV on, but when off, it defiantly shows dust and fingerprints.-Build quality of the TV and the remote feels really cheap, but I suppose this helps with keeping the weight down.-Bezel is a bit large to what I am used to, but this genre of TV is new to me, meaning a smaller size and perceived lower 'quality'. It does look nice off though.-Headphone Jack is located in the back in a really awkward position, then again who uses headphones on a TV?-Power cord is only a two prong, no ground. I do not know what I am talking about, but could this cause issues with power surges like lightning? It just seems weird to me.As mentioned earlier, I got this for the lightning deal, under $100, but I would still be happy if I paid alot more than that, this was a great steal in my opinion. Also check out the pictures I uploaded for the various ports.
