Best TV I tried
By Thigpen
This is the best TV I tried out over the last 30 days. I wanted to stay around $800 which is fairly easy these days if you dont need a smart/3D TV. I have Google TV and love it.I took advantage of Best Buy's 30 day return policy with no questions asked.I went into the store and every geek squad guy said that Panasonic Plasma is the way to go.I went against their recommendation due to brand loyalty and got the 50" LG Plasma Model 50PA5500. This TV was fine, but the white levels just couldnt hit the mark(seemed dirty) without compromising the blacks.I then returned it and wanted to try a LED TV. I bought the Samsung 46" LED Model UN46EH6000FXZA. At first glance the LED was great (esp when there wasnt fast movement), then the picture started to annoy me. I went through multiple picture adjustments and could not get rid of the tracers, and the picture seemed a little jerky. Im sure a LED with a higher refresh rate wouldve be a lot better, but Im not paying for it.After those 2 a came back and got this Panasonic, and couldnt be happier. After testing the market I realized I initially over reacted to the reflection of the Plasma glass screen(mainly because I was aware of it being an issue so I would stare at the reflection at every dark scene). This TV did not require hardly any advanced settings tweaking like the hours I spent on the other 2 models. I have 2 settings I currently like; one for sports and one for movies. Eventually Ill get it to one picture. This TV has very good whites, very good blacks, and the onscreen movements are extremely fluid. My wife was enamored with the brightness of the LED, but we found a good meeting point. The life-like crisp picture definitely makes up for that.I could care less if this TV uses $3 more a month in energy over the LED. Im not worried about missing the passing fad of 3D and its early technology, or if the TV is "smart". Im also not worried about this TV lasting 20 years, even though they say it will.I highly recommend this TV.

2012 model Excellent Picture and Great Sound
By appoloosa
Sorry Amazon, I didn't buy it online, picked it up locally at Sam's Club for less, but hopefully what I have to say will convince more people to buy this model the Panasonic P50U50. It's the newest Plasma technology, my build was April 2012, it used Panasonic's Brand new Nano Plasma screen which is absolutely amazing, it runs cool uses 100 watts, the Nano Screens are rated for 100,000 hours and has none of the problems of the older Plasma screens and when you compare this to an LCD or LED it's striking the difference, even the cats are amazed they keep trying to touch things on the screen. Have to wipe their paw prints off my new TV...lol never had that problem with my old DPL TV it replaced. This TV does NOT have WIFI or 3D built in, however almost all of the new Blue-ray players have all of that built in and if you want the Internet go with a Ruko or Google TV box for less that $100.00 you will have more Internet applications than you know what to do with and the ability to search the Internet unlike the proprietary apps built into the expensive TVs which are very limited. Now let me tell you about the features Panasonic forgot to mention that this TV has ....guess they are trying to play down the less expensive TVs, it does have Picture Presets and Color Presets and a lot of Audio adjustments including Surround Sound which I'm using, gives a wider sound effect, now it's not going to shake your glass in your windows, but we found it to quite good, it has plenty of HDMI and component hookups and a Panasonic exclusive the SD card reader, we like that feature, it has a Light Sensor and Volume Leveler too, keeping those commercials from blasting you out. Overall a very nice THIN about 2" thick TV and well worth the $748.00 we paid for it at Sam's Club which BTW you must pick-up in store, so unless you have a big vehical, I'd recommend having shipped free from a reputable online seller like Amazon. PS get ready to share it with your cats.

Amazing Set at an Amazing Price
By James J
I was skeptical of this set at first, when viewed in-store at Best Buy and Walmart it seemed dull and dim compared to the much brighter LCD's on display. Those employees, like a couple reviewers here, just have no idea how to properly set it up. Crank up the brightness and contrast, this is the most amazing picture quality I've seen in my home(make the employees set it to "vivid" for a quick way to compare). Gamers swear by Panasonic Plasmas, and this model is no exception. The deep blacks add layers of color I never saw on my previous TV and the lack of LCD lag make all my games feel so much more responsive. 3D is a fad and "smart" features can be added just by hooking up a PC, or are delivered by the PS3 or 360 already. Skip those unneeded costs to grab this giant plasma for a great value.

Could have been perfect
By Prime
(Note, I am ranking this TV 3.5 stars)I have a Sony 46" XBR3 but have been dying to upgrate to at least a 60". So when I see Samsung has two 65"ers in their 2010 line up (the 6500 and the not-yet-released-at-this-time 8500), I knew that I have to get one of them now.First a few disclaimers on my purchase decision:1. I only want to buy a LED LCD from Sony or Samsung--it's a personal thing. No Plasma/regular LCD/projector. So there aren't that many choices2. Ideally I would have bought a local-dimming LED LCD since it will have the best contrast/dark level. But it's not available for 60"+ and I don't see it in the horizon in the next 18 months.3. I hang the TV on the wall and only use the TV for display only. So all the other bells and whistles on sound--I don't care and won't review here4. while 3D can be cool, I think it's over-hyped and doesn't worth another $500-1K for the 8500. I also need the TV now so 6500 it is!5. This purchase is a "upgrade" to my 46" Sony XBR3, which was a decent top model 3-4 years ago. I also bought a Samsung 46" b650 LCD last year, so some of my comments will inevitably be compared against these TVs.Pros:1. Aesthetics. At 1.2" thickness, this unit is super slick, especially if you hang it on the wall--a great visual asset to our family room. Viewing aside, the glossy screen actually makes the unit looks more elegant.2. Picture quality is not bad, when you can overlook some uniformity issues in bright/solid color scenes (see my cons). No clouding/flash light issues in dark scenes that are common with some LCD TVs. Excellent contrast and in terms of viewing angle; I don't see any significant degradation even past 45 degrees.Cons:1. There is only 1 big con IMO that makes this a 3.5-star instead of a 5-star The TV has some uniformity issues (vertical bands/lines of a different shades). This is especially blatant if you are watching bright scenes (i.e., watching the World Cup in a sea of grass green or in a DVD player menu when the background is supposed to be one solid color). At first, I thought this is due to a defective TV so I called AMZN for an exchange. (BTW, Kudos to AMZN concierge for the excellent CS.) But the 2nd TV also has the same problem, amid milder that I can probably "live with". I now think the problem is due to the edge-lit LED design as the bands seem to exhibit a pattern and especially obvious in the center (furtherst from the edge). Minus 1 star here!(Other cons):1. No wireless adapter included. Samsung, you just lost a potential customer who could potentially give you extra revenue from using the internet apps. Instead, you decided to nickle and dime me on the wireless adapter that probably worths $10 mfg cost (and no way am I buying it for $79-100).2. For whatever reason, Samsung decides to use a glossy screen on all their LED TVs. My windows are behind the sofa so I see all the glares during daytime viewing. A downgrade from my Sony XBR3 or Samsung B650 which have matte screens. Minus .5 star here!3. The chrome TV base is very cheesy and ugly. I am glad that I get to remove this for hanging the TV. It was also a pain to remove the base as well. In my Sony XBR3, you can remove the screws and the TV would still sit securely on the stand, so you can take your time to lift the TV and hang it. But the C6500 base is poorly designed that as soon as you remove the screws that secure the base, the TV would fall and have no where to go but up--a challenging task you if only have 2 people for the task.3. It's impossible to access the I/O panel once you hang the TV (I have a low-profile mount). I don't understand why they don't leave a few extra ports on the side.4. If I have to be picky, the remote looks cheap. It looks like a remote from a 10 year old VCR, totally not matching the sleek glass bezel of the set. I use an universal Remote so it's not a big issue for me.5. Finally, this TV, like any other 120Hz or 240Hz TVs out there, has a motion enhancing feature (Motion Plus) that makes a lot of movies become video-like (instead of film), i.e., the soap opera effect. Some people likes it, most don't. Personally I don't but you can easily turn off the feature or I use the custom setting to keep the blurr reduction at 10 while reducing the judder to 4.

Beautiful, but one serious flaw
By Brandon St Amant
I purchased this TV without doing any research at all (which is unusual for me), just walked into the store and took one look at this beauty and knew it was coming home with me. Unfortunately, I should have done my research.Don't get me wrong, the television is beautifully assembled, looks phenomenal wall mounted and has a fabulous picture. The thing is, it has these "white spots". Yes after about 5 minutes of watching I noticed during the bright scenes there were at least 5 spots about 1 cm in diameter each, located at the middle top and bottom of the screen, and also in the top left corner. The spots at the bottom of the screen almost looked like they could be related to the screw position for the stand (this was wall mounted though), but spots were also present on the top of the TV in the middle and top left. I decided my panel was defective. But I went into 2 other stores and their display models had the exact same "white spots"! Even though they aren't visible in all scenes, I couldn't justify the price of this TV for anything less than perfect. Also, I wasn't that pleased with the ability of this TV to handle motion, especially fast motion like football, and there was some juddering during movies, even though I tinkered with the Motion Plus settings quite a bit. The picture is quite vibrant but has an overall slightly "soft" appearance, almost like you are looking at it through fog. It wasn't that noticeable until I replaced the TV with the Samsung PN63C8000 63-Inch 1080p 3D Plasma HDTV, Black, which has a phenomenally better picture, has 3D capability, and is about $500 cheaper.I would definitely recommend Samsung's high end plasma line over this LED model. Much better picture and no panel flaws. Seriously Samsung, what's up with the "white spots"?????

Big and Beautiful
By Louis F. Detulleo
This TV needs more reviews! I would give the tv 4.5 stars, not 5. I got it a couple weeks ago now. Overall it is an awesome TV, beautifully designed. Picture quality in HD and Blu-ray is amazing. SD is perfectly acceptable. The streaming movie internet apps are cool. Inputting text is a bit clunky however. Can't seem to get the facebook to work. Speakers are kinda sucky but you have to expect that on such a thin TV--got to get a home theater set up. There is a bit of light leak at the 4 corners of the TV, but again I think you kind of have to expect this on such a large LED edge lit tv. It can definitely be minimized with adjusting the picture settings. If you want the biggest TV you can get without being really rich, this is the one to get. :)Cheers.

Awesome picture quality
By Ben Eastman
The picture is crisp. I can't really comment on the sound since I have a separate sound system. I really like that it has a USB on the side, definitely makes it easier to plug something into.

Great for the money

Bought this for an RV and it's perfect. Sound is OK once you adjust the equalizer and the picture is just great.

It's ok, but could be better
By Esther
The picture is pretty good. Audio is merely adequate even after adjusting the sound settings. The "swivel" base is a joke. The base is glass which is screwed from the underside of the base to a plastic stand and then onto the tv. The screws protrude just enough that it scratched the table top that I placed the tv on when I attempted to swivel the tv. I had to place a cloth under the base to prevent further damage and make it easier to move.

Sharp LC37D64U
By Theobrien7
OK I've been holding out longer than most to acquire my first flat screen LCD television. I'm glad I waited until now as prices seem to keep dropping like a rock and quality improving far beyond the early models I've seen. After doing a lot of online research and seeing recent models I finally decided to take the plunge and picked up the newly released Sharp LC-37D64U. As I unwrapped the set from its packaging I realized that it was major leap forward aesthetically. Most noticeable is the thin black frame surrounding the screen that maximizes the amount of screen space and the slender width and depth dimensions making it perfect for wall hanging. I wasn't disappointed when I finally fired up the set for the first time and tuned into the HDTV National Geographic Channel. The images were just a stunning thing of beauty. I'm still putting the set through its initial paces but can't wait to get my new Blu-Ray player hooked up. I've also seen complaints on other forums about the sound quality with some of the Sharp LCD's but found this one to be more than adequate although not audiophile quality for those home theater enthusiasts out there. I would highly recommend this product to someone wanting a top notch but smaller footprint LCD.3/15/08 Update - Well I finally hooked up my Sharp BPD-HP20U Blu-Ray player via an HDMI cable and much to my dismay I cannot seem to get the output set to 1080p. Right now all discs playback in 1080i. When I attempt to set the player to 1080p I get the error message "the attached equipment does not correspond to this format". I've got a call in to Sharp customer service to see if they can clarify the setup procedure for me. I'd be curious to know if other users have had the same issue or not. Funny thing is that when I hooked up the Blu-Ray player to my 19" Magnavox it outputs in 1080p just fine.3/21/08 - Well still no response from Sharp with regards to my 1080p issue. Also, I have noticed at least 3 "stuck" pixels (not too bad with over 2 miliion) one of which is bright green and a bit irritating but only up to a viewing distance of about 3 ft. I don't know how common these are since this is my first large LCD but I only hope that more do not start to appear. I'm taking my rating down to a 4-stars. I'd still recommend this set but can longer say it's perfect. Is anybody else buying these?3/25/08 - Bought a PS3 player. It plays 1080p just fine.

Beautiful TV. Amazing display quality and great sound.
By Alexander Berezhnoy
Choosing a new TV is not an easy task. There are so many of them these days. This one jumped out at me mostly because it looks nice. From the aesthetics standpoint I zeroed in on this Sharp, and one of the Samsung models. What about the size? I wanted something larger than 32 inch, but due to space limitation 40 inch was already too big, so this is why I settled on 37.So how did I break the tie between Sharp and Samsung? Well, it's the reviews about the quality of speakers. Samsung supposedly had weak sound. I wasn't planning on setting up a bunch of speakers in my living room, so I wanted the TV to have adequate speakers. I have to say the sound is very nice, so I'm happy with my choice here.By the way, since the pictures on Amazon are not the greatest quality, I actually went to Best Buy to get a better idea of how the TVs look. I recommend that you do the same. But then make sure to buy the TV through Amazon, because it will be $300 cheaper. If you don't want the extra $300, then you can send it to me :).The picture quality is amazing. So far I've been only watching cable, but am really impressed with where technology has gone. The colors are vibrant, and the viewing angle is really as advertised. Initially I was afraid that LCD on a TV might be somewhat like LCD on a laptop, where a slight deviation in viewing angle makes the screen invisible. TV is completely different, and the video quality rocks.I'm not a gadget junkie, so I can't give you too much detail here, but the bottom line is that I'm happy with my choice so far, and I recommend that you get this TV.

Connections not right in description
By Spinner
I purchased this television primarily because Amazon's description says that it supports DLNA and has an Ethernet port. To my disappointment, I can find NO Ethernet port or any mention of DLNA in the manual. I like the TV after one day and it comes with a fine remote (not like the piece of junk that came with my Philips). I have not decided what to do about the lack of DLNA though. Anyone have the same opinion?Update: Amazon, as well as all of the other web retailers that I've found, have the sales literature incorrect. I called Sharp. You do not get DLNA or Ethernet with this TV, that comes with the larger 40+ inch displays. Here's a six month user review, good and bad:Good - Brightness, color, remote control, display of analog tv signalsDisappointments - All software related - does not support the display digital broadcast of the TV show description, no onscreen clock, no way to get the name of the program that you are watching without changing channels, favorite channel selection only allows you to toggle through the selected stations, you cannot jump to favorite channel out of sequence.Comparison to my 47 inch Philips - Philips has better software related features like the clock, display of OTA onscreen program information, the ability to pull up a selectable onscreen display of your favorite channels, but the Sharp has a hands-down better remote (but with less features). - Joe

Great TV for $250
By videotechie
Bought this as a second set for our guest bedroom - my Mom often comes to visit and complained the last few times the TV I had in the room was crap. Was a bit skeptical for the price and an unknown brand. Turns out this is great TV - decent picture, easy to set up, plenty of connections , sound is OK.I have it wired to a regular DirecTV box (not HD) and use a mode in the TV to fill the screen - looks OK - not too grainy and plenty bright. Also have an antenna hooked up - off-air HD looks just fine. Finally - hooked a PC up to it so my Mom can check her email etc. Same story - worked OK and looks fine.Amazon free shipping and no sales tax was the deal maker for me. Buying the same set in the local K-Mart would have cost at least $100 more.If you need an inexpensive (I changed my tune from cheap - this does not perform like a cheap TV) TV don't overlook this set, or other Haier products. If it was made in the USA it been an even better deal...but as-is I'd buy it again.

Good TV, Warranty is shorter than described.
By Barry
The online description says that the warranty is one year parts and labor. However, the manual that comes with the TV says the warranty is for 1 year parts and 90 days for labor. I hope it does not become an issue. The box also has the 1yr/90 days. The TV is very nice and has enough resolution to make a great computer monitor if I need that in the future. I maximized the bass and cut the treble down a bit to eliminate the "tinny" sound that is the default.

Great TV For A Bedroom
By Broke Mexican
Paid $160 for this TV.I have had it for about a month with no issues. The TV Tuner has Q-CAM which will pick up a lot of digital channels from a regular cable input. XBOX looks great with HDMI at 1080p. Hooking it up to a laptop was easy. Just a great standard TV.The one thing that does suck is the remote. For whatever reason it has a slow response time towards the television.
