4Expensive and impressive.
By Professional
Let's shuffle the elephant out of the room...the TV is expensive. Now for what it does:Bose put a ton of work into the remote. It makes it simple and not frustrating for me. Not that I wouldn't be able to master a techy remote instantly...it's those calls from my wife asking me to explain to her how to get the BluRay player to work. Grrrrrr. But thanks to the engineering of the remote, those calls no longer exist. Without a doubt putting days onto the end of my life. Now for the sound...wow. People, I used to edit movie trailers in Hollywood and approved my audio cut on reference monitors that could have been traded for a BMW. And I'm telling you this is impressive. Setup in a perfect room, you will not be able to tell that sounds aren't coming from behind you. I turned around and looked the first time I heard the TV. Is it perfectly decoded and reproduced 5.1, no. But it sure as hell gives you a surrounded sound stage. And here is something that everyone can relate to...you know how many times you're watching a movie and the music is so loud, you have to turn it down...then they start speaking the dialogue and you have to turn it up...then they jump off the bridge, everything explodes and you have to turn it down? Well here is a lesson, high frequencies and low frequencies are FAAAAAAAAARRRRRR easier to reproduce and fake than the mid-range frequencies (where dialogue lives). And this is where "Best Buy" speakers fall short. You can get a subwoofer that rattles the china by throwing a large speaker in a box, only playing the low frequencies out of it and putting it in the corner (corner loading a sub) to increase the volume. However, this causes peaks and valleys in the loud explosions/music track and covers up any mid-range dialogue those cheap speakers were trying desperately to reproduce. The same basically goes for the highs ringing out of the tweeters. They don't get put in the corner like your subwoofer...but they sure do compete with the dialogue. All that to say, this speaker setp in the Bose is in a legue of its own. NEVER will you have to turn the volume up or down because your missing things. You will only have to set it once at the volume you'd like for that show, sit back and enjoy. More like a theater. Which does justice to those that painstakingly edited that audio down to the 24th of every second.Video quality: One of the reviewers ragged on Bose for not putting hue, RGB adjustments, etc in the settings. They did. You have to hold a button down on the remote when you're selecting it to get into the "hidden settings." Now, some might think this is ridiculous...but this is brilliant for two reasons. One, most NEVER make those adjustments on their TV. Two, I do make those adjustments and it drives me through the roof when aunt Milly is watching the kids and screws up my work, because she thought that was where you changed the channel. With all that said, it is not the most accurate display I have ever worked on...BUT 99% of the consumers out ther will just think their BluRays look amazing. So where it is worth the money, it is still more than what most can justify spending. Like a Mercedes, it's worth $75k, but many won't spend the money on one...however, if you do, you will not be disappointed.

5Excellent tv/entertainment system
By D. Bethune
After moving into a new house, I was looking for a high quality but simple and easy to use television/entertainment system with a relatively small footprint. My old setup--tv, dvr, blu-ray player, amplifier, cd player and speakers--wasn't bad, but it took up a lot of space. And it could be a somewhat involved process when switching back and forth between components. I had tried a "universal remote" but could never get it to work properly, so there was a fair amount of going back and forth with remotes or getting up and down to turn things on and off.But by choosing the VideoWave, I was able to remove the original audio system components from the entertainment system, cutting down on both bulk and complexity. Now my entertainment center is just the VideoWave tv with the accompanying console/iPod dock, the dvr and the blu-ray player. No speakers, no amplifier, no cd player and no more multiple remotes. The Bose remote control, which is surprisingly intuitive, controls all. The remote puts all others to shame and is actually fun to use, something I've never said about a remote control before, lol. The entire system is simple, compact and easy to use while delivering a superior video and audio performance for tv, movies and music. Just what I wanted.Setup is a snap. Pull the tv out of the box, plug it into the console and follow the on-screen instructions. Not much more to say about the setup because it's that easy. There's been a fair amount of discussion on this board about both the picture and sound quality of the VideoWave, many by people who, based on their comments, appear to dislike all things Bose. I was surprised because the majority of the professionally published reviews I've read, e.g. the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, PC Magazine and others, were very favorable. In any case, based on our personal experience I can report that my wife and I are very pleased with our new VideoWave and think both the picture and sound quality are excellent. As luck would have it, the VideoWave went on sale shortly after I bought it, and Bose had no problem crediting the difference on my purchase. As others have noted, the VideoWave is expensive but for us it was well worth the expense since it functions as both a television and as a stereo system. I'm sure you can save a few bucks by matching a television with different video and audio components but that's exactly the scenario I wanted to avoid. For watching tv and/or listening to music, the VideoWave "just works" and for us it works really, really well.

3High cost to value
By buyer
I would say you should consider this TV if you are:1. Rich as in money does not matter.2. You need a 46" TV3. You don't want speakers inwall, sound bar or otherwise4. You need "good" sound.5. You don't need 3D.If you are anything else, I would stay away from the TV.I watched the TV at a bose store and it was pretty impressive. It gave the illusion of surround sound but as I read, Bose usually makes the ideal room to demo their product. While they may be using a back wall to reflect sound and give you the illusion of it coming from behind you, this back wall may not exist in your open concept living room etc..The other thing you should think of is that this is an all in one system, with no room for upgrade whatsoever. If you like a 3d display, better speakers, bigger screen, 7.1 you are out of luck. And if part of the tv breaks, your whole system breaks with it.The price is VERY expensive for what you get,For instance, you can buy a denon 4311ci receiver ($1300) , 5.1 Polk RTI series speakers with A9 towers ($2000) , a 3d projector like acer ($1300) and you would have a system that resembles a real theatre for less than what you would pay for this TV. You would have money left for say room sound treatment. Again that is not for everyone, certainly not for me.
