4good price for a Sony
By Armando
My mom bought a Sony Bravia 40" LCD like 4 years ago for $1,100. Recently, i had to replace the TV in my room so since prices have gone down in the years, i can now afford to go bigger. I decided to move the 40" Sony into my room and get a 55" for the Living room. My mom wanted another Sony Bravia cuz she liked the one she had before. Originally i went to Frys for a different TV but stumbled upon this one for $799. Seemed like a really good deal for a Sony. Besides, the other one i was gonna get was Plasma and i like LCD better cuz there's less glare. And since it was a Sony Bravia it worked out perfectlySet up was a 2 person job but pretty simple. After i set it up i was looking for the power cable in the box and realized it was attached to the tv. It's not detachable so that may be an issue for others. Mine sits on a tv stand so it's all good. and there's a piece that was supposed to hide the screws but i didn't even bother putting it on cuz u can't tell.As for the TV Quality:I'm not sure if it's the size of the tv but the HD channels don't look as crisp as they did on the 40". I figured that might be the case since it has to stretch the image a bit more to fit the 55". So i connected my blu-ray player with HDMI and played some movies at 1080p. Looks much better than 1080i cable but not as good as the 40". I work as a Video Editor so I'm very picky with quality. However, my parents don't notice. Then again they can't tell Standard Definition from High Definition...The Motion flow is ok, it does improve the focus on moving images, though this doesn't concern me as much as image sharpness. The 40" is 60 Hz so the 55" takes the win.The contrast ratio is good. This was the major problem i had with past TVs. When playing dark games or watching dark movies, much of the detail was lost. finding middle ground left everything hazy. Both Sonys have good blacks, whites, and colors. The sound is ok, not as good as the 40" but i won't get into much of that. I rely on my 5.1 surround sound for that. If you're looking for audio quality, invest in a 5.1 surround sound with OPTICAL input. As for the design:Cons: The frame is glossy and kinda big. Also the power cable is not detachable, i can imagine this being problematic for some.Pros: LCD display has almost no glare in my living room where there are lots of windows.Overall, I'm happy with the purchase. It was a good deal for the brand and size. i wouldn't pay more than $800 for this tv considering I've seen 60" LCDs for $900. The quality is good for the size. Don't mean to sound like a snob but the average viewer can't tell 720p from 1080p anyway.A few tips for those new to High Definition Home Theaters:Plasma has nice color, but lots of glare so they are best for dark rooms.LCD has less glare.LED has low glare and nice blacks.HD cable only broadcasts at 1080i so don't worry about getting 1080p unless you have a Blu-ray player.WIFI READY DOES NOT MEAN BUILT-IN WIFI. You have to buy an adapter for WiFi ready TVs.If you want 1080p use HDMIIf you want true 5.1 surround, invest in one with OPTICAL input.

4A warranty replacement from a Samsung too expensive to fix
By EngrPaul
I received this TV new, but as a replacement from my extended warranty company. I had a 52" Samsung LCD that was too expensive to fix. While the picture quality is as-good-as, I had to supplement the TV with a soundbar/subwoofer HT-CT150 combo to achieve sufficient sound quality and volume.Only 2x10W speakers is a joke for a LCD TV where there is plenty of space for big speakers and amplifier components. I can understand how slim LED TV's having underpowered audio due to size limitations. I guess LCD's are a dying breed and they give them the same lame audio drivers until they completely go away.== Pros ==55" Screen.Great picture quality.Handsome appearance.Bravia works good with other Sony components.Wide mode enables viewing 4:3 input signals full-screen with less stretching.Input/output including PC, component, and digital optical audio.USB for pictures, video, music, thought limited formats.Packaged really well and easy to setup.Easy menus.== Cons ==Horribly weak sound.Anti-reflective screen SPREADS light reflections and actually makes it HARDER to view the picture.Wobbly stand: Set acts like a pendulum side-to-side if bumped. No Audio Return Channel (Doesn't send audio via HDMI to a theater system).Only 2 HDMI inputs, no S-Video input. No backlighting on the remote controlSlow to startup when turned on.TV cannot change HDMI inputs on the Sony Theater system, despite both being Bravia and syncing correctly.Thin owner's manual. For the way I use a TV, I am satisfied with my warranty replacement TV. Based on my multiple bad experiences with Samsung, I am extremely glad to have a Sony-branded product. If I was purchasing a TV for myself, I would NOT go with the traditional LCD with CCFL (fluorescent) backlighting, I would definitely spring for LED backlighting. I would need to buy an external audio system either way.

4pleased so far
By Irritated
We purchased this for under 1k through Amazon and it arrived 4 days later. Setup was painless. Tv comes with 2 hdmi inputs and 1 set of AV jacks, enough to suit our needs.Speakers are mounted on the underside offering somewhat better sound than our rear speaker 46". The picture and controls were easily adjusted and simple to understand. The only issue we have found so far is the headers during searches suggest this unit was wi-fi ready but that is not the case, THIS TV IS NOT WIFI READY. We are using a wifi bluray so this is not a huge issue overall. The other confusing part is the 120 mh motionflow which I understood to be an enhanced 120 but it appears to be an enhanced 60mh , we are still trying to confirm this but I will say whatever it is is good enough for our eyes.We watched transformers 1 and 2 and the picture was fantastic with no studders or blurring. For the low cost and large size we don't feel we could have done better for an everyday viewer, and the Sony picture blows the samsung picture relatives have out of the water.

5Excellent small and inexpensive TV/monitor
By SB Leo
I bought this TV to use as a small TV that I could carry around and also to use as a computer monitor sometimes. I was not surprised to see it looked very similar to my Samsung TVs because I read from a few websites that it was built with Samsung OEM parts. Even the menu and the setup were very much the same as those on the Samsungs. OTA HDTV quality was decent for a 720p TV of this size. SDTV channels looked better than I could get from the VSonic LCD TVs I also own. Sound quality was excellent considering the small size of the TV and the speakers. The audio was clear and loud even on the default settings. Besides the VGA input, the HDMI input and coaxial digital audio output were the nice bonuses that I didn't believe I could get with a 15''/15.6" TV but this TV has them all. With a cheap antenna, I could get more than 50 DTV channels in the city. The TV looks very slick in glossy piano black. When used as a monitor, I was very pleased with the 1366x768 screen I got from my laptop via the VGA connector. I also tried the HDMI connection with my desktop and it looked excellent, too. Overall, I would highly recommend this TV to those who are shopping for a 15" TV. Another plus is it has a 16:9 aspect ratio (which I prefer) and not the 16:10 that most other 13 to 19" TVs have.

4Perfect for the price
By Benjamin
Gee, some of the reviews here had me a bit nervous about purchasing this little tv, but I sure am glad I did. Maybe these folks were expecting to plan a Super Bowl party around the little fella and were shocked that it doesn't compare to a Samsung 50 inch with surround sound? For $100 I can't imagine doing better than this unit. I bought it for our kitchen about three weeks ago and it's been perfect. I even purposely held-off on my review in case it blew-up or the sound went out or it started summoning the undead, etc.. Nope - it pretty much does exactly what I bought it to do.The picture is great - nice and sharp. I did see what people meant about the sight lines fading a bit if you get too far away, but this was easily corrected by veerry slightly tilting the unit upwards on the swivel stand which comes with it. Our kitchen isn't exactly huge, but I can wander from one end to the other and see the picture just fine. The sound is a total non-issue. It's precisely the sound you'd expect from a 15" tv if you're a realistic person. I've never even had to turn it up all the way.I honestly think you'll enjoy this tv just fine.

2Barely acceptable
By Terry1022
If you are looking for the cheapest, barely acceptable video component ... you found it. I bought this strickly because I have a limited budget and this met it. The colors are washed out on all the settings. The available angle of view is difficult if you are using this in an area like a kitchen. Probably no more than 50 degrees of working angle. The unit worked for approximately a month and a half. Shut it of one night come back the next day and the remote doesn't work ... at all. After trying a new remote it's been diagnosed as a bad remote reciever in the TV.... not acceptable on a unit that is only a few weeks old. All in all it's a stretch to give it 2 stars.Amazon was really great in offering to replace or refund. After looking on line at other issues with the brand, I've decided to spend the extra $30 and buy, from Amazon, a name brand I have confidence in.SPEND THE EXTRA $$$$.........

5One of the clearest HDTV I've seen!
By Herlich Quintos Aguiluz
PRO:The clarity of this TV is astounding. With this TV, I can honestly say that I feel like I'm just peering through a window when watching HD content. There are times, three weeks into our purchase, that my wife and I exclaim "it's so clear!" while watching shows on 1080i. This is a big deal to me because we have a 65" Pioneer Kuro PRO-151FD in the living room, but now I prefer watching on this unit.Blu-ray at 1080p is just beautiful and jaw-dropping. I played Ratatouille using a PS3, and the hairs on the mice and blades of grass are so detailed. I also noticed that the SD commercials seems clearer, and on some of them, someone with an untrained eye might mistake for HD if the pillars were not present.I haven't hooked it up with a receiver yet, but the sound of the unit is more than adequate for our bedroom. We only go to "8" on the sound, which is animated as a blue circle on the lower left as opposed to a bar at the bottom of the screen. The "8" setting corresponds to about 1 o'clock, so you can go really loud if you wish.I connected a PC to the unit and it can go up to 1920x1080 pixels at 60Hz, which is the max for my graphics card on that particular computer. Although it can display all those pixels, you can notice shadowing on the images and text. Not enough to give you a headache, but just enough to be noticed. If you do not plan on hooking a computer to this TV, then this is not a big deal. Actually, it's really minor considering you can watch Netflix and it does DLNA (accessing media files you share on your network).I have this connected to my router via Ethernet, and even Netflix came out clear. I saw Dead LiKe Me and it still had that peering through a window effect. We watched Food, Inc. and was pleasantly surprised that Netflix serves that up in HD.CON:All HDMI inputs are located on the side. Although it's a good idea for game consoles and on the fly connectivity, I believe it would have been better to have one in the back and three on the side. This would give the users the option to use the rear connection for wall-mounting.SUMMARY:This is a great TV for around 8-10 feet of viewing. There are a lot of extras that you may not even touch, but if your main concern is clarity, you can't go wrong with this unit.--Technical stuff:Dish Network Vip 722 HD DVR connected via HDMI1Playstation 3 connected via HDMI2PC connected via VGA Cable + Stereo cable via PC Input

4Wow
By R. Waxler
Just got this machine and I love it. Setup was easy, internet connectivity worked like a charm and the picture is so real it even movies look like live TV.Speakers are not the best but a quick hook up to a real sound device solved that problem in about 5 minutes. I would have given it 5 stars except for the speakers. The menues are quick and intuitive and the remote is functional without a manual. The whole TV out of the box without the stand is very light and easy to maneuver.I mounted it on a wall mount, plugged it in, turned it on and was watching my Netflix in about 20 min, including packing up the trash.

5Great edge-lit LED TV
By J. Anderson
After extensive research and trying out a couple sets, I've finally settled on the UN40C6500. This is Samsung's 2010 C series LED TV with Internet Apps. Here is my take on this set.AestheticsThis is a really nice looking TV. 1.1" thick, handsome bezel with integrated controls, with a unique chrome legged stand make this a stand out. The set also comes with a cord so you can hang it on the wall like a picture.PictureThe picture on this set are beautiful. The picture is gorgeous with great color reproduction and deep black levels. The edge-lit LED backlight is great, except for some uniformity issues in the corners that can be noticed with an all-black screen. During normal viewing, this is not noticeable to me. The movement with the default settings is smooth and "video like", the same as you'd expect on any 120Hz or 240Hz, but what is great about this set is that you can customize the dejuddering and smoothing to a level of granularity that I've never seen before. Standard Definition TV viewing is one of the best I've seen.SoundThe sound on this set is on par with other comparable sets, in other words, "meh". If you are an audiophile you probably already have a sound system to jack this TV into. If not, you might consider a sound bar or some inexpensive surround sound speakers. However, I've chosen to stick it out for awhile, and am content with the standard setup.Device ConnectivityI'm most concerned with the number of HDMI ports, which this set has plenty of at 4. I wish it had separate component and AV jacks, but alas they are combined, so in my situation, I can't have my Wii and DVD player plugged in at the same time. This won't be a problem once I get a Blu-ray player. There are also two USB ports for viewing videos, photos, and firmware updates.Network ConnectivityWith Ethernet only, you either have to have a jack nearby, or go the wireless route. Samsung offers an unreasonably expensive USB dongle to provide Wifi access to your TV. I opted for a wireless bridge so I could connect both my TV and Tivo with wireless N speeds without having to buy two separate (and expensive) Wifi dongles.Internet AppsThe UN40C6500 supports both Samsung Apps and Yahoo Widgets. The Samsung Apps are great, and support Netflix, Hulu Plus, Pandora, etc. The only thing I use Yahoo for is the Amazon video streaming. There is a good and growing selection of Samsung Apps, however, Skype is only available on the 7 Series sets and above. This set is also DLNA compliant for streaming from computers and other compliant devices. There are also the "AnyNet+" feature for content and control sharing that I have not tested.Other FeaturesThe only other feature that I'd like to point out is the iPhone/iPad remote capability. I have no idea why this isn't touted more, because it is fantastic. The stock remote is fine, but the free Samsung Remote iOS app is great because of one killer feature: QWERTY Keyboard! Being able to enter user names and passwords without clicking letters out one-by-one using a number pad is so nice. Plus, if you can't find the remote, you just have to reach into your pocket for your iPhone. Awesome!SummaryIf you are looking for a TV with a great picture, decent sound, fun Internet apps, at a reasonable price, this is the TV for you. Plus, Samsung has a history of great quality, so it should last for quite some time.

4For $150 - Not bad, not bad at all
By joetagaz
Nice little TV.You take it out of the box, attach the base (3 screws), put the included batteries in the remote, hook up the cable, plug it in, hit power, answer a few questions and it starts to automatically scan for channels which takes 10 minutes or so.Voila, you're watching and listening to TV. If you get a HD signal, they come in fine. For that you'd enter 5 for standard def. channel 5 and 5-1 for the HD channel 5. Easy. The audio is, well, it's not great but it does allow you to plug in speakers or an AVR if you like. There are also 2 HDMI, component, and compositite video connections.Again, nice little TV for $150. If you want to spend more I'm sure you can get more features but how many features do you want in a 19" TV?

5Pleasantly Surprised
By Muncie Gal
I bought this television at Target a couple of weeks ago for $149. I bought it to replace an analog set. The analog set worked well with a converter box but the hum from the box drove me crazy. I wasn't expecting much and was prepared to return the TV if it wasn't acceptable. I've been very pleasantly surprised. I'm able to get local HD stations with rabbit ears, the picture is very good and the sound is also good. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

This TV is the second try on purchasing a 19" TV. The picture is clear & sharp and the sound is acceptable. The first one (Sanyo) the sound drove me crazy, very tinny. There is a menu option that gives us several choices on the clarity of the screen. We do not have HDTV access. AB

4Solid Performance
By Nicadaemus
I received this TV yesterday delivered by Amazon.com's carrier Pilot. I first want to say how pleasant the delivery experience was. I had considered buying this TV elsewhere where the shipping would have required me to lift the TV off the back of a truck and carry it up myself. The Pilot delivery person was very friendly, carried the TV into my apartment, unpackaged it, assembled the TV's stand mount and together we placed it on my TV stand. As for the TV itself, I am very satisfied.PROS:* Passive 3D - I've watched several movies with 3D shutter glasses and, while enjoyable, I found the glasses heavy and uncomfortable and the process of charging them tedious. I am sooo happy I don't have to add 3D glasses to the list of things charging in my apartment. I also found the quality of the 3D image superior on this set to the active set I watched (believe it was an early 47" Samsung 3D LED). The 2D-3D conversion is neat to play with, but is not something I will actually use (gives little extra depth of field, but no more than that).* Off Angle Viewing - compared to the 55" Samsung C6300 LED I owned previously, the off-angle viewing on this set is a massive improvement. The Samsung use to wash out pretty quickly at off horizontal angles, not so with the l6200u. Note that with passive 3D, however, the vertical angle is important and the TV will need to be positioned at eye-level. Not a problem for me, but may be an issue for those mounting this TV on a wall.* Bezel - I really like the sleek bezel-less design. Note however that while the screen is bezel-less, there is still a 1/3 inch zone of glass extending to the corners of the screen without pixels.* Accessories/Features - this TV comes with a wireless QWERTY keyboard in addition to the remote for use with the Apps. I also tested it and it will work on any PC for those not looking to use the Apps (I have an HTPC). I was also impressed that the TV came with an IR blaster extension cable for those planning to use the TV remote as a universal remote (this passes the signal through the TV to the blasters (2x) that can be positioned in front of the other devices' IR receivers. Also came with 4x sets of Real 3D glasses (same ones used in the cinema). 4x sets of active 3D glasses would set you back another $200.* No lag - I use my HTPC to play games on this TV and have not noticed any lag. Haven't run any official tests, but I understand that lag is a noticeable issue on some TVs. I run an HDMI cable directly to the TV and a digital audio cable to my receiver.* Price - TV is generally priced lower than its immediate rivals (the LG sets) and with the apps, QWERTY keyboard, dual core processor and bezel-less design that are available only on premium models. Compared to the price of active 3D TVs (TV plus glasses) - it's an absolute bargain.CONS:* Flashlighting - flash-lighting is present on this TV, but only noticeable on a black screen when there is no ambient light. I watched an entire film last night (Cave of Forgotten Dreams) and did not notice the flash-lighting.* Stand mount - the mount this TV came with is pretty cheap and flimsy compared to others (Samsung at least) and the TV itself in the mount is slightly off-level. I droops slightly to the left (barely noticable, but I took out a level and tape measure and confirmed it).* Software update - the TV tried to automatically update its software once connected. I allowed it to do so and it broke the 3D option. I called Toshiba and was able to fix by reseting to factory settings. I would suggest new owners not update their software/firmware until it is confirmed working.* Glossy screen - screen is glossy. Not generally noticeable, but during dark scenes, I have occasionally found myself looking at my own reflection.* Limited user control - [SEE UPDATE BELOW] you can control settings such as brightness, contrast, color and backlight, but not much else. No individual color temperature control, no options regarding dynamic contrast, smoothing etc. The good news is that the default contrast and smoothing settings are well calibrated out of the box. I like the soap opera effect, but most don't - and it isn't noticeable on this TV.Overall, very pleased. Will update this review if my continued experience with it changes my mind.**Update 5/14/12**The TV does have advanced picture controls - I didn't see them at first because you need to scroll down past the last item under "Picture". Typical picture control settings are included other than a method for adjusting the motion blur setting (there is a "cinema mode" but it is greyed out in all picture modes).

5Great TV!
By fizzy1000
I bought this set from Pauls TV thru Amazon, it took 9 days to deliver, threshhold delivery(no help),luckily it was light enough for me to handle myself. It came in it's original box with no additional packing or protection. Setup was simple and it found my home network quickly, Netflix was up and running with no problem. The picture quality while viewing hi-def material thru my Direct-TV box is simply stunning. Rich colors, deep blacks with none of the soap opeara effects I see on my 42 inch bedroom set. Sporting events are fantastic, no blurr whatsoever. I have 3 or 4 3-D channels available and can tell you the effct is amazing! The glasses are light and fit over my regular glasses comfortably. I wasn't able to get the Hubble 3-D disc to play properly tho, it had double side to side images I could'nt format correctly, I can only hope other 3-D discs work ok.(played thru a brand new 3-D Panasonic blue-ray player) I found leaving the set on standard mode delivers the best picture quality on all material I've viewed so far, tho some may prefer a brighter setting. All in all I am delighted with this set and highly recommend it, you could pay alot more for other popular brands and not have the picture quality of this tv.

4Toshiba 55L6200U
By A. Patel
This will be a brief review based solely on appearances and as I continue to learn about the features of the TV, I will add on to this review. (4 Stars based on initial reaction to TV)The TV looks excellent appearance-wise. Amazon shipping (Thru CEVA) brought the TV into the house, unpackaged it, and tested the TV to make sure it works! All was good. The packaging of the TV was pretty good as well (Though I had purchased a 55 LED from LG which had much better packaging...more sturdy which made me worry about this one). All four corners were covered, and there was a Styrofoam board on the front of the TV. I will be setting it up in the coming days and will be doing a more comprehensive review of it.A big drawback from what I can see is that the screen is very glossy! (I believe the screen is actual glass) so that will most definitely be a concern if lighting in the room is an issue. The TV came with 4 3D glasses, a QWERTY keyboard, a remote control, and wires to allow RCA cables to be hooked up.Again this TV looks great and it wasn't very heavy at all!UPDATE:After getting to play around with my new toy for a few days, I'm pleased to say I really enjoy this TV! Amazon had a price point of 984 when I purchased it, it was on sale for a very limited time so it may come back a this price...? Who knows...Anyways, here are a few points and grades that I have been able to assign to this TV:- Screen - 8/10 - It's pretty darn glossy when the TV is turned off, but once it's on, you hardly notice the glare. I, personally, don't have any light source behind the TV so don't really need to worry about glare as much as maybe others but again, when the TV is on, not too bad-Design - 8/10 - I really like the design of this TV! The TV, when off, looks beautiful. I have a very primitive 60" Sony projection LCD to compare to (MASSIVE!) so anything compared to this looks amazing. The bezel according to pictures that I had seen in pictures led me to believe that there was maybe 1/8" bezel, if that. After turning on the TV, you notice that there's about 1/2" border (on the screen, not the actual plastic border) that doesn't contain picture, so this was a bit disappointing.- Motion - 9/10 - I haven't messed around with the settings and am still not even sure if the TV has an option to change the 120HZ motion setting. I really hate when TVs have that "soap opera" effect and am glad to say that this TV has none of that! (none that I can notice anyway) The motion is very smooth but not overly smooth that it looks "soap opera-y"- 2D-3D up-conversion - 8/10 - I have never really seen any other TVs which have up-conversion so can't really compare to any other ones, but I can say that I've tried out Avatar (Blu-Ray) and up-converted that and it looks pretty good! It wasn't the greatest 3D but for up-conversion, it was more then enough.-3D content - 9/10- I watched Under the Sea: IMAX + 3D and this was awesome in 3D on this TV. The colors were extremely vibrant and not washed out at all. Having darkened 3D glasses, I assumed the colors would fade, but this was not the case at all.-I can not comment on Web browsing, Cable-viewing, or gaming yet as I don't have any of those connected, only a 3D blu-ray player. (It's not in its final residing place...once it's there, then I'll connect the other stuff)Any other info needed? Comment and I'll try and respond as best as I can!

5For the price, a definite steal!
By Eek
I purchased this TV after many months of research to replace a 7 year old 17" LCD TV for my bedroom. I have an extensive movie collection and I had nowhere else I could watch my blu-rays except for the TV in my Dad's man cave. I got sick of my Dad kicking me out all the time, so I decided to invest in a television that will last at least a few years. I chose this model because I wanted a plasma for the size/price ratio, and the superior picture quality. I also considered the Panasonic G20/25, LG PK950, and the Samsung C7000. Panasonic's response to their rising black levels, plus the floating blacks really crossed that off my list quickly. I was pretty much set on the PK950, but when I researched the price it happened to be on sale. Well, when I was ready to purchase the price jumped up $200 and did not decrease in the few weeks I waited. So, I jumped on a good price on this model. I saw the C7000 in store and was not all that impressed by the black level, but I had read that C6500 was supposed to be a bit better because it is not 3D. Since I plan on purchasing an additional television in a few years, I decided to wait on a 3D model until more content becomes available/affordable.Delivery: I ordered my TV from Amazon on Saturday, June 26th and scheduled delivery during checkout for Tuesday, July 6th. My TV shipped on the 27th, so I was hoping it might arrive early since it was only coming from about 5 hours away. Since I never received a call, I expected the TV to come during the window I scheduled. My scheduled time came and went, and nothing. Frustrated, I called Pilot, the delivery service. The customer representative told me my package was still at its origin and was not scheduled to arrive in my state until the next day! So, basically I was told Pilot held my package for a week. I was not happy, but I was told I should be called the next day to schedule delivery. Well, the next day I still had not received a call. Finally at 6 o'clock I called Pilot again. This representative was considerably nicer, and connected me to the courier responsible for the delivery. Turns out they lost my paperwork, but the woman I talked to was very nice and apologetic and said my package would arrive the next day and I would be called an hour in advance. The next morning I was getting everything ready hoping my package would actually arrive when I received a call from a local courier, not Pilot, saying they did not read the note to call an hour ahead and were actually outside my house asking if they could deliver the TV then. Two men came in, assembled the TV on its stand, placed it where I wanted it and plugged it in before asking for a signature. A great experience once they arrived, but don't think your scheduled delivery time is absolute. If you haven't heard anything the day before your appointment, make sure you call the carrier before you take any time off of work.Aesthetically, the c6500 is a beautiful set. Nice and slim, with an all black flat border and a bit of clear plastic that extends over the side. The base is black and matches the television. It is almost as impressive off as it is on.Buzz: I walked out of my bedroom when the delivery guys left, and when I walked back in I heard a strange buzzing sound. My house was completely silent so it was definitely noticeable, and when I heard it I realized it was the infamous Samsung buzz. The first few days it was a little distracting, but I got over it very quickly. Now I only notice it when I am dead center and the volume is either low or I am at a silent part of a movie. Not a deal breaker for me, but I can see why it would be to some people.Image Retention: My 7 year old LCD has big image retention issues, oddly enough. With that TV, the whole image would stay on the screen for quite a while before it would go away, colors and all. With the Samsung, it's more of a shadow of the image. Menus and text are the most susceptible if they appear for longer than twenty seconds. I do not think this is a problem as it fades so quickly, and there is a scrolling pattern that can be activated to clear off anything that is particularly persistent.Reflections: This TV does fairly well with reflections. I have a window opposite the TV with a blind in it that does not fit, so light comes through around the frame. It stills shows up on the screen, but I can easily ignore it and it does not detract from the image. If you've had a CRT or any TV with a glass front, you should know what to expect. If you have large windows opposite the screen, you may want to consider a matte screen LCD.Picture Quality: I have watched a variety of content on this TV and overall I am very pleased. I admit I am very picky and critical when it comes to a good picture. The color accuracy is very good. When I watch blu-rays I am amazed at just how crisp the picture is. The TV in my Dad's man cave is a rear projection Mitsubishi. Even with blu-rays, I don't feel the picture is as fluid and uniform as my Samsung. The colors definitely pop, although they do not pop as much as my Dad's Mitsubishi and definitely not as much as my Uncle's Pioneer Kuro. I don't think most people would notice, but you might if you are accustomed to LCDs. Don't get me wrong, it still pops, just not as much as what I'm used to. As for the black level, it's not as deep as I had hoped. The Mitsubishi without a doubt has deeper blacks and it's something I notice whenever there are black bars. If the screen is filled however I do not notice it as much. This is just me being extremely critical and most people would not notice. Since this is a bedroom TV, I do not have a cable box. Only the channels that come through my coaxial cable straight to the TV. SD is what it is, though I will say this TV does a decent job at it. Surprise to me, this model picks up OTA HD channels. Quality greatly depends on the content, but I am impressed. I considered it a huge compliment when my sister took over my TV and my room to watch the All Star baseball game on Fox HD. For her to do that, someone who does not care about picture quality at all, the picture HAS to be good. Even though the blacks are not as deep, I still feel the picture is superior to most televisions out there.Internet: I bought this model because it has the internet apps and connectivity. Ignore the Samsung chart on Amazon's information page, it is inaccurate and this television definitely has the apps. I wanted to be able to stream movies, and upgrade firmware without complications. I have an older Samsung blu-ray player that has no usb or wifi, and can only be updated through a CD or LAN which is on a different floor of the house. It is an absolute pain so I did not want that issue with my television. My router is in my bedroom so I could have easily run an ethernet cable, but in preparation for moving in the future I wanted to be wireless. Instead of spending $60 on the Samsung dongle, I bought a Rosewill adapter that has the same chipset for $27 shipped. Much cheaper and works perfect. I tried Amazon's VOD because of the credit I was given for registering. I watched Kill Bill and the HD was good but not blu-ray quality. And when I paused, the pause menu overlapped with the black bars so it stayed for quite a while since nothing else showed up on that part of the screen. A little annoying, but nothing the scrolling bars couldn't fix. I love having access to so many movies instantly so I am definitely going to invest in a Netflix account since they seem to have the most content. There is also Vudu, which gives you one free rental, Blockbuster, and some Best Buy movie channel. I don't have much use for the Facebook or Twitter apps, so I cannot comment on those. Pandora is missing which I know is a favorite of many.Other: After just an hour of use, this TV starts to get very hot. My Dad has walked into my room several times when my door has been closed and asked why was it so hot, when I have to respond that it's because of my TV. In a small closed off room, like my bedroom, it can get a little stuffy. Larger open rooms should provide enough circulation to minimize the problem. Fortunately we have central air, but if we didn't I don't know if I could sit in my bedroom with this on. And for those interested, there is a Samsung app for the IPhone/IPod Touch to turn it into a remote for all internet connected 2010 televisions. I found it a bit annoying and unnecessary, but some of you may enjoy it.Overall I think this is a great television that demands some serious bragging rights. After spending about eight months researching and wondering if I will make the right choice, I am very happy I bought the C6500. HOWEVER, for anyone who is really keen on investing in 3D technology, I suggest either the C7000/8000 series, or the recently released C680 Plasma. It appears to be exactly the same as the C6500 but with 3D and it even has the same MSRP. If 3D is not an issue, buy the 6500 series. You will not regret it, especially at this price!Update: Pandora has been added as an app for all those who are interested.

5Why get an LCD panel?
By A. Chung
I was struggling between this TV and the G25. The Panasonic did have warmer colors and performed better with motion however, I could not stand the grain. Returned it eventually and got this Samsung. I am MUCH happier with it. I would recommend the Panasonic only if you have a very dark room (even during the day) and plan on only watching movies but for overall, everyday use I would go with the Samsung. Even though the Panasonic had better anti-reflective screen- Great PQ, less grain- Much more refined user-friendly interface and bezel- Super thin- Surprisingly better sound than the Panny- Colors 'popped' out more like LCD, G25 definitely has more realistic colors (esp. during dark room viewing)- Great response rate with gaming - Plasma is the way to go if you're a game- BUZZ - my first C6500 was terrible, it sounded like there was a beehive in the back of my TV, switched it out and got a July 2010 build ^^ and am happy to report that it's SUPER faint; only noticeable when you put your ear up to the screen. So if you're super paranoid about it, try to request the latest build.- No rising blacks :)- Does get warm but that's expected with all plasmas- Does not deal as well as the Panasonic with fast motion/panning- IR was there with the first one I got, but with the July 2010 build it is virtually nonexistent. And even if you do get one with IR it goes away after a minute- Better SD performanceIf you are looking for a reference plasma in your TV for your home theater, look elsewhere (G25). If you need an all-around plasma TV that has great daytime performance, less grain and great colors go with the Samsung

5Excellent 2D Television Value
By Jonathan P. Smith
This TV delivers awesome value to those who are not interested in 3D. I did not have any retailer nearby that carried this model (retail stores prefer the pricier 3D models), so I bought it from Amazon on blind faith. Turned out to be a great decision!Pros: The picture quality of this TV is amazing. Blacks are black, colors are vibrant and motion is smooth. The biggest thing I noticed compared to my smaller 1080p Samsung LCD is that shiny objects actually look glossy on this tv. Blacks seem to be pretty deep to me, certainly a step up from any LCD or LED I have seen. The picture quality is also a step us from the thicker Samsung PN50C550 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV (Black) I was able to see in stores. That model has a nasty habit of having random background fuzziness that both this TV and the higher end Samsung plasma models don't seem to have. If you are considering between the two like I was, get this one instead. The Movie setting is very nice, and there are tons of calibration options if you want to really get the picture how you prefer it. Samsung should be proud to put their name on this TV.One good thing about this TV is that is does not suffer from the "soap opera effect." In fact, turning that effect on is not even an option! The built in tuner is good. The TV picked up my local channels and HD sports look amazing. SD programming looks pretty good compared to my old LCD, but I personally watch less and less SD stuff nowadays. I hooked up my HTPC and the TV has a perfect 1:1 pixel mapping, which means no overscan. This TV is super slim (like their LED series) and very ascetically pleasing. I actually prefer the glossy traditional Samsung look over the matte black and brushed metal of the 7000 series plasma I saw in the store locally. There is no buzz, or at least none that I can hear. My wife plays music for a living so she has good ears and she never complains. Mine was made in June, which must be when they got it figured out.Image retention started off pretty bad but got ok within a week and ever since then IR has barely been a factor. I have my Xbox hooked up to the TV, and gaming is great with no ghosting or blur.Cons: Unlike what the description above states, the TV does not have the Cinema Smooth feature unless you are willing to hack into its service menu and force it to think it is the 8000 model. I personally don't want to void my warranty, so I left that alone. If you read online you find that Cinema Smooth raises the black level anyway and is probably not a wanted feature. Go outside of Samsung if you want 24p.The service manual warns about not watching too much 4:3 content (I assume to avoid black vertical bar burn in) and even though I haven't had any problems if your DVD collection is all pre-2000's SD TV then maybe consider something that's not a plasma. The only picture quality downside is that it is not as sharp as some TVs I have seen; the image doesn't "pop out" as much as the highest end models do. But overall the amazing blacks, colors, and lack of motion blur means it easily bests any LCD near it in price. If you have a bright room this TV might not be the best because the screen isn't as bright as some LCDs, but that brightness (unless you pay $2000+ for a LED with local dimming) also means washed out colors so consider some curtains and enjoy the show! The last downside is that the stand is weak, but the TV comes with a way to attach it to a nearby wall for support.Overall I think this TV provides great value for those who don't care about 3D, and should be considered over the 2009 plasma models that are thicker but barely less in price. Amazon seems to be the only place to get it, and for that I thank them!Other Comments: The delivery was easy. I called Pilot a day after Amazon confirmed it shipped, and they scheduled a delivery time for me a whole week ahead of the indicated delivery date. The delivery man helped me set it up and hook up my Blu Ray player to make sure it worked. Don't be scared buying online, it was really a nice experience. Time to go watch a movie!
