5Incredible TV
By partyparty
I don't normally write reviews, but am doing so now, as this is a huge investment for anyone thinking of buying this TV and I would like to share my own observations. We have owned this TV for only a week, but after many hours getting acquainted, we are already quite familiar. If you are unpacking this item and mounting it on the wall - a couple of important points. Firstly, the danger with any large TV is that the screen may crack if it is allowed to flex. So, be very careful handling it. The TV comes in a huge carton, which lifts off vertically. There is another similar carton inside and this also lifts off, leaving the TV sitting on its stand, in the bottom of the carton. Removing the stand and attaching the replacement plastic cover could be tricky, but the solution is to have your partner lift one end of the TV and rest it on a pile of books 3 high and then to do the same to the other end. This way, when you remove the 5 screws, the stand drops away and you can easily lift the TV on to the wall mount, after attaching the cover that replaces the stand. After removing the heavy stand, the TV weighs a little under 100 lbs. Several reviewers have mentioned that other big TVs weigh more than double this. The first impression, after the TV is mounted is just how slim it is and the bezel is very thin too.So, about the TV itself. We looked at an Elite 70" and a Sharp 80". Both are excellent TVs. In the store, most TVs are set to "vibrant" or "store" mode, which gives an artifically bright, high contrast picture. We asked for the TVs to be set on normal and natural settings, so we could see the detail clearly. Stores also vary in the quality of their input signal. In the end, it seemed very clear to us that the highly-priced Samsung 75" was the best. When my wife and I set up the new TV at home, the picture was already great, despite several reviews that say you need to get help calibrating it. After experimenting, we set the TV to the standard setting and also slightly reduced the contrast to around 85. The picture is unbelievably good. We have U-verse and I noticed that, despite the extremely good picture, sometimes close facial detail would be missing, unlike on our 47" Samsung, where you can see every pore. After a little research and talking to AT&T, I realised that the reason is that U-verse and other cable providers are pumping out 1080i - NOT 1080p. On a smaller TV, like our 47", you can not see this, but when the screen is 75", you lose a tiny bit of detail - although, as I said, the picture is still fantastic. Off the record, a couple of the U-verse people told me that both 1080p and 3D are coming. Someone mentioned that only Directv is currently transmitting 1080p.Here's the thing, we have a TV with maybe the best quailty picture we have ever seen, but we know that it will get even better, so I next rented a blue ray movie and the picture is now truly staggering. On closeups, every hair is shown in fine detail. This is an incredible TV! The instruction book isn't that hot. Bit thin on info. The 4 supplied 3D glasses are excellent. We have only tried the built-in demo 3D movie extrects, but it is really very very good. Not sure I will use this feature much. The TV comes with 2 remotes - a standard one and another that has components like a laptop touchpad. The TV also responds to hand signals and the spoken word, but frankly, we prefer to press normal buttons. The wireless features are good and connect easily to YouTube, Halo etc. The ambiant room auto-dimming works very well, unlike our 47" that tends to make the screen too dark in low light conditions. If you can afford this mightly TV, it is, in my opinion, the best out there, by a mile. Don't fall for the $999 extended warranty. The store makes 50% profit on that and if the unit doesn't fail during the normal warranty period, it should go on for many years. I registered the TV online and Sumsung gives you 15 months, instead of 12, for doing so.One last piece of advice for anyone who has bothered to read all this. Our wall mount has quick release tabs that hang down at the back. Because the TV is so large, you can't reach these tabs and need to spend 20 mins with a bent coat hanger trying to reach them. Tie string to each of them.Oh yes, one other thing, several reviewers suggested turning of the auto motion plus feature. This is a personal choice. I turned it off and was watching some British motor racing. Cars shooting across the screen. I could see a little jerking. I turned the auto motion feature back on and not only was the fast movement corrected, but the picture also seemed to look better.Hope this helps!

5Great TV, must fit for your circumstances and desires
By R. Harlow
First of all, lets be honest, this is an expensive tv. So the question of is it worth it will be a matter of priorities for you. Picture quality is amazing, I think better than Panasonic, pioneer elite, etc. but my specific set of circumstances found this as the only current tv that fit the bill. I wanted a TV for a home theater (I do not like projectors, I don't care what they say, no one I have seen can rival that of a good tv and there are too many limitations). The TV needed to have a great picture, be at least 75", be easily wall mountable, be thin, relatively low weight, and esthetically pleasing. There is no other tv out there that has all of these requirements. Even though it seems minimal, 10 inches makes a huge difference in a home theater so the 65" would not work for me. The sharp 80 " pictures quality just doesn't compare and it's twice the weight and 3 times as thick. You can spend almost as much for a 70" elite, but you get 5 less inches, a thicker and heavier tv, and IMHO , picture not as good. So that leaves this tv. Is it worth 9k? To me it is, I am blessed to be able to afford it. And it fulfilled all of my requirements. Trust me, I thought long and hard about this TV, but in the end I would rather spend a few thousand more than invest in something that was heavy, thick and not great looking.

5The best TV picture on a screen bigger than 70"- a comparison
By Chris
Yes, the Samsung is very expensive, but the picture quality is just hands down gorgeous- the best I've ever seen on a screen bigger than 70" by far. It looks to be very, very close the Sharp Elite 70", which is the highest rated big screen TV on the market today. I took my "Thor" 3D blu-ray with me (it has a lot of dark scenes that torture 3D TV presentation) and "The Dark Knight" (a lot of high-contrast scenes) to run the floor models through their paces and here's what I came up with... The Samsung's contrast and black level detail was far superior to anyone else with bright color and outstanding picture quality. 3D was a revelation- I have never seen a TV able to present such resolution and detail in 3D mode on a super-large screen before. The "micro-dimming" works spectacularly in producing a vivid, high-contrast picture that outshines everything else in it's size. The more I analyzed and compared, the more the Samsung UN75ES9000 stood out from the rest. I could only find one fault (well, besides that scary price!)- a momentary, slight pixilation occurring occasionally in some parts of a few moving images- which could be a result of having some motion enhancement turned off or on within the set ( I didn't have the staff at the stores do anything else other than turn off the mode on the TV's that cause the "soap-opera effect"- a plague on all 120/240 Hz LED's that luckily can be shut off). But if you want the best picture that money can buy right now for under $10K, this amazing 75" TV fulfills all those wishes. In comparison, the Sharp Aquos 80" LED is a nice entry- the picture is clean, with good blacks, nice color and decent contrast- not as brilliant and defined as the Samsung, but still a solid set. I did find the Sharp to have some ghosting occasionally when viewing in 3D, not terrible, but still noticeable when it appears. The clarity in those tough, dark scenes was slightly muted, especially after seeing the Samsung, but it's still pretty decent. When you add in Sharp reliability, a 5" larger screen and a price at almost half the Samsung it then becomes a tough decision to make. A cheaper, but good option for those on a budget are the Mitsubishi DLP sets. I've owned several and never had a problem with any. If your main watch mode is broadcast TV and "normal" movies you probably can't go wrong. DLP's suffer a bit with blooming in dark scenes and the darkest scenes in 3D viewing can become almost totally washed out, but for everyday watching they're quite satisfactory and less than half the price of a comparably sized LED set. Well, that's just my opinion based on several days spent at two stores, going back and forth having salespeople play my movies between one set and another and watching from 12-15 feet away (except I got right up to 5 feet from the Samsung and it still looked spectacular!)- do your own research! I'm still on the fence for the moment- reliability issues mentioned here and there on the internet with past Samsung TV's that make me hesitant to pull the trigger for $9K, when I can get a solid upgrade from my old Mitsubishi to a darn nice 80" Sharp for almost half that. To be sure, those fears may be somewhat unfounded, because the latest Consumer Reports rates the two the same in reliability- and that's based on reports from thousands of consumers, not just the small sampling that post online.

5Beautiful TV with a cool remote
By GKCMilner
I have been using my TV for about 4-days now. I know Amazon has a separate shipping/packaging review area so I won't let what happened reflect on this rating, but I do want to mention that the TV was shipped in the store box with no additional packaging or protection. The first TV arrived with a cracked screen, but Amazon overnighted another TV (packed the same way) and it arrived OK.I bought this TV based on my experience testing one at a local electronics store. I was really impressed with the 3D quality using passive glasses which was a requirement for me (I did not want active shutter); I also really liked the remote. I found it super easy to type in the search fields and to make on-screen selections. It's very accurate and easy to use. And since the TV also has an IR receiver I was also able to add the TV to my Logitech Harmony 880 remote as well.It has taken some time learning how to use all the TV features correctly because the owner's manual is weak, which is probably my biggest complaint. It took me a while to figure out what all the 3D setup options were and what all the selections were for. The on-screen interface is very cool and super easy to navigate; especially with the magic remote. The only thing lacking that I wish it had is Pandora radio. There must be some legal reason because when I use the TVs web browser and go to Pandora.com there is no audio. IN LG SmartTV there are a lot of free apps, including some cool 3D programing.Picture quality is great with plenty of brightness. I was impressed that it was to my liking right out of the box. There is a short setup process when you first turn it on that lets you turn the energy saving feature on/off (I chose off) and if the TV is in a store/home (I chose home). It has no more or less light bleeding than any other LED TV I sampled, and has no light leakage. My Samsung had a more even backlighting, but that is only noticeable when it's a black screen; and seems to be a problem with a lot of LED TVs (all the ones I looked at anyway. One thing I would like to point out is that I seem to get the best 3D experience when the room is completely dark. I normally watch TV with a soft light behind the TV, but I now turn it off when I'm watching 3D. Glare also really impacts the 3D quality. To top all of this off, the TV is one of the most beautiful sets on the market. I replaced a 40" Samsung LCD, and I was worried that this 47" might be too big in the same space; but because it is almost frameless it is only 1" wider (the Samsung had a distracting thick, high gloss frame). It has a sleek modern design with brushed metal accents. The stand is a very heavy plastic with a matching brushed metal finish.All-in-all I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I feel I got a great price and I love the package deal from Amazon that included LG AG-F216 Cinema 3D Glasses Family Pack (6-Pairs) for 2011 LG 3D LED-LCD HDTVs and the LG NB3520A 300W Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer.***UPDATE***After using it a bit more I wanted to add a couple things:The light bleeding I mentioned earlier is only noticible on the initial startup splash screen where the LG logo is on a black background. Once the TV warms up there is almost no noticable light bleed on dark scenes. I am very happy with this. When watching a movie from a flash drive, the play, pause, forward, rewind, buttons on my Harmony remote don't do anything. I have to use the magic remote. We watched the Immortals in 3D and the effects were nothing short of amazing. We are so happy with this TV.***UPDATE 2***If internet access and Apps are important to you, you might be disappointed. To me the LG Smart TV Apps are pretty much worthless. I like Netflix, Amazon VOD, Pandora Radio, iHeart Radio, and Slacker Radio. The only one that this TV has is Netflix (it does work well). The TV has a decent web browser, but when I go to any of the radio websites they block the sound. Navigating Amazon Prime VOD is just a terrible experience and not worth the effort. I will be connecting my Logitech Review back to the TV. Bottom-line: Great hardware, disappointing web connectivity. If this were a 10-star rating system I'd give the TV an 8.5The 3D really impresses.

5Smart, and Easy to Use
By Rex Kullmann
This handsome TV features a thin bezel and modern look, ease of use with attractive menus and very good picture quality.Set UpLike all other flat panel TVs, once you unbox the set, you'll need to assemble and attach the stand. LG's stand seems a little flimsy. There's some give when you touch the TV and the manual gives specific instructions on where you should grab the TV when you pivot it on the stand. I've had no problems, but a more substantial feel would be comforting. When you first turn on the TV, it takes you through a few easy steps to set it up. Pairing with the remote, joining your wi-fi network, choosing your energy saving preferences and the like. My TV also found a software update once it was connected to my wi-fi and prompted me to upgrade. Easy.Performance and The FlawI'm a TV production veteran of many years. I'm really picky about picture quality in some respects, but don't care a bit about some of the things some TV reviewers seem obsessed about. What you can see with test signals isn't very important. What matters, in my humble opinion, is what you are seeing when you sit down to watch. Are you watching the movie or watching how your TV performs? The LG's picture quality is very good, but there's one Flaw that takes me out of the moment and makes me pay attention to the TV.The LG 6700 uses LED edge lighting. It results in splotchy light leaks around the perimeter of the screen. The Flaw is visible during dark scenes and in a darkened viewing room. How bad is it? It's invisible 99% of the time, but when the movie ends and the credits come up, there's those glowing globs around the edges. When the hero goes into the haunted house with a flashlight, there's those ghosts all around him. Turning on the Energy Saver feature, which reduces the backlight when the room is dark, lessens The Flaw somewhat. It's pretty easy to overlook The Flaw since the LG has a great picture otherwise. Good, well saturated color, plenty of contrast and good brightness. 3D performance is stunning. If you want to change something, you'll find every adjustment you can think of in the settings menu. So overall, I rate the LG's picture very good despite The Flaw. This LG is one of the many new TVs that use glossy screens. Glossy screens give a more vivid and colorful picture than non-glossy screens, but at a cost. They are much more reflective. Is a glossy screen for you? Pretend your TV screen is a mirror. If you're sitting on your sofa looking at that mirror, would you see a strong light source, like an unshaded lamp or a window? If so, you'll prefer a TV with a non-glossy screen. This LG's audio performance is mediocre. There is an EQ built-in the settings menu, but using it to boost the bass makes little difference. The speakers just can't reproduce it. While the audio is fine for dialog, I think LG assumes you'll use a sound system if you care about fidelity.3DThe LG uses passive 3D glasses. They produce a good 3D viewing experience and have an advantage over active shutter glasses in that they are much cheaper to buy, don't use batteries, and are universal among brands. Next time you see a Real D 3D movie in the theatre, hang on to your glasses. They work fine with this TV. You get 6 pair of 3D glasses with this LG. Your local Best Buy carries additional glasses from LG and Real D including kid sizes and clip-ons and high-priced premium stylish ones. Here's the part of the review where I expected to dismiss the 2D to 3D feature. The LG, like many new BluRay players, will synthesize 3D from regular 2D content. Darned if it doesn't work pretty well. It's not as good as real 3D, of course, and you probably won't use it that much. (Are you going to start watching CNN in 3D every night?) But for a few choice programs, it's surprisingly good. There's a button on the remote that toggles 3D on and off with one button press. All in all, LG has done everything possible to make 3D simple to enjoy with a minimum of fuss. Push the 3D button, put on the glasses and eat your popcorn.Smart TVThis TV has apps, just like your smart phone. There is no longer a menu where you adjust picture and sound settings. There's an app that does that. There are apps to switch inputs, search for available video you can download, browse the internet, turn 3D on and off, display media from your smart phone or computer, display the user's manual and on and on. 21 apps come preloaded on the LG, and you can download more. Most of those are gateways to other content, including a lot of children's programming. Most are free. You can get to the apps you've installed through the My Apps menu, or through the home screen which also has a "Premium" menu where you'll find Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and more. The "3D World" menu has a number of streamable 3D programs. Most menu screens keep the program you were watching when you entered the home screen boxed in the upper left corner. You can select it to close the menu and return to your program.LG's operating system seems rock solid, but some of the apps are buggy. The internet browser, for instance, seems impressive at first with tabbed browsing and flash installed. But some websites will lock it up, even to the point where it's difficult to make the browser quit. And while flash is present, using it will bring a warning that you're using an old version and it won't be supported for long. Another app, AccuWeather, gave me a face full of error messages when I tried to add Fort Lauderdale to my favorite cities.Still, LG has sent out at least one update since my set was built, so there's reason to believe the bugs will get squished eventually.Media Link allows you--theoretically--to view your computer's media files on the LG's screen. It requires a third party app, Plex, to be installed on your computer. I have a MacBook, and the Apple version of Plex crashed immediately when I launched it. No Media Link for me!The RemoteLG has gone its own way with the remote control. Instead of a wand with a zillion buttons, you get a wand with a few buttons that works like a Wii controller. You wave it in the air to move a cursor on the screen. It's clever, but I have gripes.First of all, the buttons are mostly surfaces flush with the face of the remote. Also, there is no light or glow-in-the-dark lettering on the remote, so when it's dark, you're left to fumble about on a seemingly featureless wand. I don't know how many times I've moved the cursor over the icon I want, then pressed the button only to have the muting come on. That's the button directly below the select button. While you're waving the remote around, it stays on. When you're still for a few seconds, the remote turns off. So if you're perusing the menus and pause to read something, the cursor will disappear and you'll have to shake the remote to get it back. When this happens over and over, it gets annoying. Also, if you take a swig of your drink, then bump the remote when you put down your glass, a big red cursor pops up on the screen to spoil the mood your movie was trying to build. While I struggle with this remote, everyone else in my household like it. Pointing at icons on a big screen is much better for them than searching for the right button on a crowded remote. Ordinarily, I put the original remote away and just use my universal remote. Not this time. Everyone but me wants the LG remote. It stays on the coffee table. But I'm not out of luck.Even though the LG remote is an RF remote, the TV accepts IR signals, so my universal remote will work with it. Well, up to a point. I can navigate using arrow keys, but there is no button to call up the "home" or "My Apps" menu. The upshot is that I'll be able to do all the non-smart functions with the universal remote, but apps and on-line content will require the LG remote. The Bottom LineThe LG is a smart, easy-to-use TV with a lot of really cool features. Picture quality is very good and highly adjustable. Plus it's a handsome piece of hardware with its thin frame and nearly all-glass face. Yes, I have a few gripes, but there were plenty of cool surprises to offset them. Five stars.

4Overall good product, minor flaws
By koty183
I can't say for the speakers on this set (I use an external system and the built in ones have never been used), so other people talking about it being muffled, I can't say. What I can say is the picture quality is wonderful. This TV is light, good quality picture, Passive 3D (big for me), and has no noticeable delay when gaming. Some problems, to get the PQ so good, they went with a glossy screen (seems to be somewhat the norm now) and this causes some reflections, but nothing too bad.The remote took some getting used to, but I have a universal remote if I just need to switch inputs. The remote it comes with is great in my opinion for navigating the menus and store, etc. It does a good job.One minor annoyance, if you move the remote a bit (move the table it's on, drop it, knock it off the couch, etc) it makes the cursor appear for a few seconds. This happened when watching netflix, but nothing too bad.The reason I gave it 4 stars is the netflix and hulu apps work well, but have this weird glitch that would happen every 5 minutes where it looks like it just panics and shows a lot of random cached pixels. I'm hoping this is a software issue that can be fixed.

4Very nice TV, good for sports (tennis), relatively cheap
By R. Garcia
I got this TV because it has features that are more commonly found in much more expensive TV's, and the one expert review out there said very good things. In particular I wanted the dimming (non-edge) LED lighting and the ambient room sensor (except I've ended up turning that off, oh well), and I didn't need to pay more to get thinner than 3". Another price note to Amazon: you're being undersold! I paid $998 at Sam's Club, and just saw that it's now being sold by [...] at $899.I'm happy with the image. A review has suggested that it looks bad when viewing it from the side, which is the main reason why we went to see it in person before buying. Like any other LCD it's not as good as a plasma screen--which wouldn't work in our window-filled room--but I don't think it's at all bad.Even better, it's doing well with tennis! We watched the first day of the US Open on someone else's HDTV and noticed that the tennis ball's fast movement across the court looked noticeably jagged. We set this TV up on the second day, and it looks smooth (and that's with the dejugger/smoothing settings set to low).I also like the looks of the TV. One expert review calls them "generic," but I want a TV to fit with my house, not vice versa. The matte screen means it doesn't reflect, which is great for the picture when it is on and for the room as a whole when it is off (less noticeable). Another reviewer noted that the VIZIO name stays orange when it's on standby/off. I find this more annoying in principle than in impact. Still, I'm *almost* tempted to go get some black electrical tape...The setup was easy: it connected to our wireless without problem, programming the remotes was easy, etc. The 5 HDMI connectors are generous. Right now we're using 2 HDMI's (TiVo and computer), the component & RCA (DVD) and the RCA sound out. Someday we'll replace the older components and go to all HDMI/digital sound, I assume. I look forward to the promised software updates that will allow streaming through wireless and/or the USB ports!I haven't tried out the internet widgets (I don't really care), and since we haven't gotten a high-def DVD player yet, I don't know how it does with film's 1080p/24 output. I haven't had any problems with smells.

5Love the Vizio
By Pictorico
I researched in-depth for about two months before making this purchase. And, now that I have received it all I can say is, this it is a great buy. I researched specs and made many in-store visits to compare brands, models, features, etc. After the research I had been considering Samsung and the Vizio, coming down to features for price, bang for the buck. I can tell you that for about half the price of a Samsung in the same category I have the latest features; built-in Wi-fi that works like a charm. many widgets available, though there a a few that I was interested in that are not yet available. The major ones are available like Netflix, Pandora, Amazon, Web Video, Vudu, Twitter and Facebook. As far as picture quality, after spending many hours evaluating many models the Vizio gives the Samsung 6500 series a run for its money and again I state for a lot less money. Super easy setup and it sits elegantly where ever you might place it.Software updated itself automatically over the built-in Wi-fi connection immediately. Easy to navigate controls, good feature set for controls and more than adequate inputs/outputs. The remote with built-in keyboard, a big plus. The one area where I suggest you might want to add is the audio. Though the built-in speakers are adeqaute, it doesn't do justice to the set. I used an old PC sound system and it provided great improvement, giving me everything I want. So I suggest you either purchase a separate sound system or the sound bar from Vizio which I have not personally tried. Highly Recommend.

3Beautiful TV - but smells too bad to keep
By J. Anderson
I bought this TV at Sam's Club over the weekend (yes, it is a XVT423SV, not the old 422 model) and am having the same smell/odor issue another reviewer mentioned. I returned my first one and this new one is about the same. I've had it running for about 20 hours now with the windows open trying to "burn off" the smell. Vizio customer support says that it is some kind of protective laquer that prevents corrosion during shipping, but that it will go away. So far, it has not improved, but I'll give it a couple more days. The picture quality is fantastic, as are the internet apps. The sound is fine - par for similar sets. The remote control is amazing. It connects via Bluetooth, so you don't have to have line-of-site with the TV to use it. It also has IR, so you can use it to control your DVD/Blu-Ray player, Tivo (it controls all but the typing in text via keyboard), etc. There is some heat coming out of the top of the set, but it is a very small amount and not a concern. The smell, though, is overwhelming. If it doesn't subside, I'll sadly have to return it and review my options. I'll update my review when I've made my decision.Update 9/2: I've had the TV on and off for a total of about 50 hours over the past few days. The smell remains, so I've decided to return it. I'd like to think that Sam's Club just got a bad batch, but I'm not willing to try a third set in the hopes that it doesn't smell. It is a shame - the TV is really, really good otherwise.

1Plagued with Issues
By falstaff
i actually received this set as from Samsung as a replacement for a 37 inch model that they no longer make. unfortunately, this television has also been plagued with problems. let me preface this by saying as far as picture quality and overall appearance go, this is a fantastic set. however, there are 3 fatal flaws that are causing me to return it.1) audio clipping issues: regardless of the audio source, the television exhibits audio clipping and dropouts where the sound will temporarily disappear. this causes a very quick, but incredibly annoying, loss in audio. this occurs regardless of input source.2) auto-dimming issues: the set features special settings to automatically adjust the brightness levels to conserve energy and optimize the the tv for low-light settings. however, even after turning off all of these options, the tv still auto-dims. obviously, this degrades from the experience.3) poor DLNA codec support: one of the most exciting features for me about this set is that it is compatible with DLNA home media servers. i was hoping to be able to stream my content to this set. however, the television has very poor codec support. it cannot play many common file formats and codecs. even after transcoding the files, the set often fails to play them. in addition, the set doesn't support fast-forward or rewind on streaming media, which makes watching a movie very difficult.i really wanted to like this set, and was excited to receive it, but unfortunately, i think this will be the last Samsung TV i ever own.

4Great tv
By Joshua L Tomy
Great tv! Looks very attractive, not too big, and blends well. Does not reflect very much light, and I am in a very bright room. Everything about this device is great. Only quams I have are, this model does not stream netflix, but that can be remidied with a new samsung blu ray(they stream netflix and start around $168). Great part about that is when you connect other samsung devices, they communicate together and have additional functionality. Thats a smart design. Only other problem is the upcoversion and the motion tracking could be better. But we are talking 60 hz so this is pretty good. I picked mine up for $600, and at that price, I would say it's the best and sexiest your gonna get.

4Sleek tv with great picture quality
By M. Terrell
I got a great deal on this through Amazon, and am very pleased with this tv compared to the only other LCD I've owned, a smaller (26in) BB store brand. The Samsung HDTV is one of the most attractive flatscreens I've seen, with a sleek look and a useful swivel based. It's the first tv I've ever owned where I don't feel the need to keep it hidden away in a cabinet, it looks so good. I didn't really notice the "touch of red" until I moved the tv to a brighter room (where I've had no problems with glare or light reflecting on the tv), and it's a subtle touch that makes the tv stand out from others. Picture quality has been great for watching cable and dvds. I don't game, so can't comment on that. While I haven't noticed the audio clipping from all sources that another reviewer mentioned, the sound is a bit tinny for music videos. However, I would imagine that someone really into music would want to hook this up to a sound bar at the least. I may look into one myself. Other than that, I am pleased and expect to enjoy the tv for many years to come. If I'd had more money, or hadn't gotten the great deal on this model, I might have upgraded to the 120 Hz, but so far the 60 Hz has worked fine for me.

5Excellent High Value LG Smart HDTV!!
By Marty Gillis
The LG 47LM 6200 LED edge lit LCD HDTV is perhaps the best current value on the market today! With a razor sharp crystal clear picture, the absolute BEST 3D passive system available and wireless connectivity coupled with web browsing and limitless apps and 3rd party video content providers, you just can't beat it!I find a 47 inch HDTV to have the SHARPEST picture obtainable. The larger the screen, the farther apart the pixels are placed and the less cohesive the image becomes. Unless you plan to sit 10 ft or so away from your television I honestly think a 55 inch screen doesn't provide the best picture quality. Perhaps when OLED displays with 4k tech become the norm that will change. But for now, all 3 of my LG flat panels are 47 inch and for a good reason.Let's start with the picture quality. The video 'engine' inside provides you with a beautiful 1080p rendering from any source component. Whether it is your HD DVR , your Blu Ray Player, or your Standard DVD or even VHS machine, the LG 6200 will up-convert your video signal and present you with the best possible rendering. The color decoders LG provides are top notch. With just a small amount of user calibration you can dial in near perfect color rendering and with the correct backlight/contrast/brightness settings you can obtain previously unheard of contrast ratios that look GREAT in any amount of light.Don't even get me started on passive 3D. For me, it is the only way to watch 3D. No eye strain, no heavy expensive glasses and a fully enveloping, crystal clear viewing experience. And LG has passive 3D down to a science. It is the very best I have seen. Period! (the 6 pairs of included 3D glasses don't hurt one little bit either!)I can honestly say that a television with this picture quality and feature set would have cost 10 thousand dollars or more just 6 years ago, had it been available then. Build quality, by the way, is excellent. There is nothing cheap or flimsy about this TV in any way. From the HDMI connectors to the included stand it is quality all the way. Just about the only thing I can possibly complain about is the power cable which is attached, but my higher priced LG 7600 also has that little niggle. (in fact, MOST TV's do)The included web browser and user apps, coupled with the vast array of premium content, You Tube accessibility and more makes this an 'All in One' entertainment center. Use the included magic remote in the same way you would a Wii game controller. The cool factor is high with this LG! Don't forget about wireless connectivity to your internet router. (Look Ma, no wires) Really, it is amazing what you get for your money with this 6200.I recently purchased their new 7600 which is 2 models up from this one. The only major difference is a slightly different bezel and cabinet styling, plus the 6200 gives you a 120hz refresh rate, verse the 240hz rate of my 7600. Nine times out of ten the average person simply can not SEE the difference between those two refresh rats and let's face it, a 120hz rate is TWICE AS GOOD in that critical department as our old school CRT tube televisions were. The visual quality of the edge lit back-lighting is spectacular and in my opinion LG has edge lit LED TV's nailed! My 7600 has quasi local dimming that LG calls 'LED Plus', but honestly in almost every real world situation it is NOT a necessary thing to get excellent performance out of an edge lit set. And believe me, this 6200 gives you TOP edge lit performance, of that there can be no doubt at all. If you can afford to spend another 2 thousand dollars on a full array local dimming LED TV then by all means do so, but if you are looking for the best value and picture in a very thin edge lit HDTV, then LG is simply the best in that department bar none!I was just watching a PAL Columbo DVD (an old 1971 episode) and was thinking to myself about how great this TV can handle standard DVD resolution. A good trick is to engage the Mpeg Noise reduction to the "LOW" setting (found in the Picture options sub menu) and make sure your super resolution is turned on. I have been able to get near HD results from standard DVD'd doing this. Great digital tool box in this TV and at no extra charge! I am a huge LG supporter. This is the 3rd LG LED 47 inch TV in 2 years. I have been impressed since day one with both the picture quality, amount of features and mature well thought out software implementation provided. The functionality and maturity of the software control systems are a MAJOR plus with LG. This is not a Beta tester product. Everything has been well thought out and executed to give you the highest quality performance. Things work the way they should, due largely to extensive research and development and TESTING on LG's part BEFORE they ship their products to you.Bottom line: This LG looks, sounds and works the way you WANT it to!At the current price, the LG 47LM6200 represents one of the very top values in HDTV today. Read my caveats at the very end of this review, but otherwise you just can't beat this TV for the price. IT currently resides in the master bedroom , connected to a Fios HD DVR and Oppo Blu Ray player but could easily be the center of ANY living room entertainment center or home theater set-up. I truly believe it smokes the competition and as such I recommend it very highly!*** Check customer images for a few PICS I uploaded showing how this TV looks in the 'real world' !In the interest of full disclosure and fair play I am going to include a small list of shortcomings that befall ALL edge lit HDTV's. This is the same thing I posted at the end of my LG 7600 review and it is also applicable to THIS model.PLEASE READ ON IF YOU ARE TECHNICALLY MINDED and SUPER PICKY about your VIDEO:***A word about Flashlighting, Vertical Banding, Clouding and Dirty Screen Effect. These are the artifacts or 'defects' that plague ALL edge lit LCD/LED panels. Some brands are better than others for keeping them at bay. The exact same model of TV may vary widely from unit to unit. My TV may have more artifacts present while another may not.Basically you need to evaluate your own TV for what you might consider an 'acceptable' level of any or all of these things. By the very nature of an edge lit displays design you just can not escape this, but manufacturing tolerances vary greatly and although you may need to possibly return one or more units you can eventually end up with one you can live with. The flashlighting on this 6200 is VERY slight, but it IS there and more noticeable during certain types of program material. Keeping your backlight down in the 50-55 range with your contrast in the 85 to 90ish range will GREATLY diminish any flash lighting you may experience. On horizontal pans of light background material you WILL see Vertical banding of varying degrees. I also have SOME dirty screen effect (Google it) and just a BIT of clouding depending on the program material. This is NOT a product defect, but to be expected with an edge lit LED HDTV. Again, it is very slight and not overly noticeable to most people.Just be aware that ALL these things are inherent in Edge Lit displays. If you just can't live with them (in my case, hardly ANY but still....) then you need to consider a plasma or a full array backlit LCD/LED not an edge lit TV. Also, THOSE types of TVs ALSO have problems, just different ones. (halos, screen uniformity issues, stuck pixels, buzzing, excess heat, burn in, etc.)BOTTOM LINE: With the exception of possibly the new Sharp ELITE models ( more than 5k to start) there is currently no such thing as a perfect display. Do not set your expectations higher than the technology will allow for. I am VERY pleased with this 6200. It offers an increased level of fine detail that was not present in my Pioneer Kuro Plasma from 4 years ago. The picture quality is on par with my LG 7600 , a TV costing a good 400 dollars more. The color accuracy is REALLY good and motion handling extremely good!A word about adjusting your picture: As a rule of thumb, RESIST THE URGE to put your backlight to 100! The mistake many people make while trying to get a good picture is not understanding how to properly find the 'sweet spot' on their TV settings. You want to leave yourself plenty of 'headroom' and not clip the visual dynamic range and end up with everything looking positively radioactive!Put your backlight down around 50 and crank up the contrast to around 85 , and play with your brightness control so that things are neither too dark or washed out. The more brightness you use, the more color intensity is needed, but adjust them in SMALL increments and test them on all types of material. Your cable box/dvr will need a different setting from your Blu Ray player. Every device sends a differently calibrated signal with different ideas of what constitutes a 'nominal' value. I STRONGLY urge you to invest in the Disney Worlds of Wonder, Digital Video Essentials or the Spears and Munsil calibration disc. Do the best job you can , then let the electronics 'burn in' for around 100 hours or so and do it again. It is a tedious process but you will be rewarded with the best picture quality on your block and a much more enjoyable viewing experience! I am currently enjoying overall the BEST picture on ANY HDTV I have ever owned and can thank the Spears and Munsil disc for much of it.**As always, there ARE a small % of tech failures in electronics and purchasing an extended warranty would be a smart move as no matter how expensive something is, electronics DO fail and at the worst possible times. Thanks for reading my review and ENJOY your new LG 6200. For the money, it can not be beat! Seriously!

542lm6200 Mis-stated Dimensions and Features
By William A. Bennett
Great TV. Picture Is Great. A few specs are incorrect. Some just changed on LG web site with in the past few days. The width of this tv on many sites including Amazon is 36.7 inchs. This is WRONG, Just purchased TV and width is 38.5 inches which is stated correctly in the manual included with 42lm6200 only. So beware of incorrect specs. My cabinet is only 38 inches and tv was supposed to be 36.7 inches. Over an inch to spare, but no, when removed from box tv was 38.5 inches and had to modify my tv cabinet for it to fit. Only half inch so not that bad. Also some sites say TV had LED plus with local dimming. LG even stated that also up untill the past week when they corrected all mistakes on thier web site. TV is only standard LED with NO LOCAL DIMMING.FYI - Has a lot of settings but a few are missing. Like notbeing able to adjust the True Motion. No On or Off or anything to adjust strength of True Motion. It is just on all the time. This TV is great. I would not return it for anything. You can not get a better TV for the money. Picure is great. 3d is great. 5 stars even with the errors of size and features stated by web sites.

5So far, so AWESOME!!!
By John W. Scott
Having owned a 2004 62" Toshiba DLP set (62hmx94) for the last 8 years, I didn't want to downsize so I went with the LG 65LM6200 but I got it from HHGregg locally for $2450. I'm blown away by the picture quality and 3d of this set. I think the resolution upscaler (new for 2012) and Triple XD (vs last year's XD, which refers to the number of processors: 3 vs 1)make a difference because standard def content never looked so good! Fired up Born To Be Wild 3d Blu-Ray on my PS3 and I am BLOWN AWAY by the immersive 3d. I watched this movie at the IMAX when it came out and if you own a 3d set, you owe it to yourself to get this one. It is one of the best 3d Blu-Ray experiences out there. I just purchased this TV last night but did a ton of research on this set and the 65LW6500 (last year's model) beforehand and was ready to buy the LW6500 until I was able to get a price within $250 (for warranty and all) of last year's model for the 65LM6200. I didn't feel an extra $700 was worth it but for $250 I was willing to pull the trigger. I'm sure in the next few months the price I negotiated will become the norm so I just sped up my timetable with a little hard negotiating. I really like Amazon but not enough to pay a few hundred more! I did notice a little clouding in the lower middle right of the screen but was able to resolve that by massaging the screen with a microfiber cloth. I have not noticed any of the flashlighting or edge bleed reported with many of last year's LW6500 sets. Maybe I got lucky but hopefully it's because LG addressed this well known issue from last year. I like the WiDi support(haven't used it yet) and dual gaming (not sure if I'll use it) but the 2d to 3d I have used and must say it adds alot to most programming. Great depth control and effect. You can't go wrong with either this set or the 65LW6500 but for a reasonable amount more I felt compelled to go with the 2012 set. I will update this review as my ownership experience with this set evolves.

4Very Good TV/Monitor for the price.
By hiweck
My use of this unit is primarily as a TV in my guest bedroom. Second use is as a TV monitor for a guest that requires a larger screen than is provided by a net book. In both instances the TA350 performed well. The price that I purchased it was $249 at BJs. In this price range there was nothing comparable. I'm a Samsung fan so I found the set quite easy to put together right out of the box. The auto channel was easy to use and selected all available channels transmitted from my cable provider. It eliminated all premium scrambled channels not on my payment plan. Connecting to an AV device or any external electronic device is easy. The manual is very easy to follow, however if one knows a little about electronic home devices the set up is very intuitive and the manual almost not necessary. The set comes with all the cables necessary for use with a set cable top box, DVR input and stereo audio output. Did not find the strong criticism listed by reviewer Yellow 7080 on my set. Perhaps he had either a unit problem or is more critical that I am. I've used Viewsonic, Gateway, HP and Dell monitors in the past and present and find the T23A350 comparable in clarity, color and sharpness. 5It just glows
By Hal Lancer
I've been delighted with this 23" Samsung LCD with LED edge lighting. I use HDMI cable to connect it to an HD cable TV box in my home office about five feet away from my chair. I picked this one because the display had a warm glow that made it stand out from the other sets in this general size and price range at Costco. When I say "warm glow," it's not a color temperature thing that I'm seeing; whites are still white, and color temperature can be adjusted. I believe the display's characteristic glow comes from the set's LED edge lighting. We have three other HDTV/monitors and this one's my favorite for viewing HD cable. The picture is highly customizable to personal taste. Edges and detail are sharp and natural when displaying HD. There's no lag or jitter with fast motion. The built-in stereo sound is acceptable. The included (non-universal) remote control is well laid out and easy to use.Rear inputs only on the display: two HDMI, one set of component video, analog audio, optical digital audio, Ex-link, mini headphone, coaxial cable, USB, PC In, PC/DVI Audio In. As with other 1080p sets, you are likely to find the picture quality disappointing unless you are using HDMI cable to connect to a source signal of at least 720p. DVDs and non-HD digital cable connected with component video cable look okay, but not great. I have not hooked the monitor up to my PC, so I can't comment on PC performance, but another Samsung 24" widescreen monitor I have for PC has been terrific as well. The included stand attaches with screws that can be removed, or a wall mount can be used. You cannot tilt the stand up or down, but what more than compensates for that lack is that with the remote, you can set Samsung MagicAngle, the vertical viewing angle, to favor viewing the picture from above or below the display at different levels. The set is EnergyStar rated in Standard mode (where you can still fully adjust the picture). I highly recommend this as an extra TV for smaller rooms such as home office, kitchen, or bedroom.

5Excellent Monitor!
By skimming the ether
Don't be misled by some claming that this is a poor monitor. Use VGA connection to achieve superlative monitor performance.

4Very happy with the E7000
By J. mamrosh
I purchased the Samsung E7000 a few weeks ago and am extremely happy with the picture quality and features of this TV. I had recently purchased the Panasonic ST50 but had issues and Amazon quickly and painless exchanged and took care of for me...they are outstanding. I am not a fanboy of either brand and with the ST50, couldn't get comfortable, even with the great reviews it gets. I went with the E7000 over the E8000 as the 8000 had many gadgets/apps that I wouldn't use and didnt warrant the extra cost. From reading the AVS and High Def Junkies forums, I will try to give some of my opinions on common issues/thoughts etc. - Buzzing - I have no significant buzzing or humming. All plasma's make a buzz sound from what I have read but mine does not have anything that is bothersome to myself or that my family has commented on. I have heard of some people having issues with this but I have not. I have seen/heard 3 sets (2 e7000 and 1 e6500) and none have had issues.- I have had no image retention/burn in. I do not watch something for 8 hours straight or game the day away however. I have played Call of Duty for a few hours - no issue. Family member left DVR paused for few hours - no issue. I did run the 4 day slides to break in the tv. I have read that you should so I did. Why not try to deter problems and maximize the TV?! It's a pain to wait but worth it.- Reflections from screen. The glass panel does have reflections when comparing to matte finish of LCD/LED. Thats just how it goes. This TV definitively has easily manageable glare however. In my den I have 2 sliding doors to the rear of the room which are directly opposite of the TV - about 20 feet away. It gets morning light. The sliders have built in blinds which I generally keep closed. If I didn't have the blinds, I would possibly consider drapes. With TV off, seems reflective IMO. Once I turn it one, picture masks the reflection well and I seldom have any issue. About 4 feet from the tv on the ceiling I have a fan and light. Same thing, when the TV is on, looks fine. To the left front of TV (TV mounted kitty corner) there is a window that I keep open and it doesnt affect anything- Picture - OUTSTANDING - sharp, crisp, clear, lots of adjustment, dark levels can be adjusted, brightness is there and it just right for me! Blu-ray is amazing. I enjoyed my 3 year old Sharp Aquos 52" and Samsung LCD but this TV night and day. The viewing angle is also much better than my Sharp and my Samsung. Motion blur - whats that? This is so much nicer watching fast motion than my other tvs.I watch a lot of TWC high def. tv and stream Netflix. Streaming in Smart Hub works great - very responsive and picture quality is great. I havent tried many other apps but they are plentiful. I also havent tried 3D yet.I would highly recommend this TV to friends and family with the caveat that it is a plasma, so there are some preparations and precautions that you should research a little on and be aware of. They are easily found at the two forums I mentioned above. I should also mention that after I broke in the TV, I followed some recommended settings found on CNET and then adjusted with the Disney WoW disk I bought here at Amazon. Really helped bring out the picture with some fine tuning. The cons - well, maybe there is another plasma out there that gives you a little better darks but IMHO, that doesnt make up for the clarity and sharpness of this plasma. Sound is pretty good in itself but I am used to hooking up to surround system. Every TV is going to have some weaknesses to each person, so expect something - from any brand.Hope this helps in some peoples decisions - I am no videophile but have researched and educated myself somewhat in purchasing a plasma and this one in particular. Also - be sure to register at Samsung's website for an extra 3 months warranty.Amazon delivery - out of this world. Ordered on weekend - delivered via Pilot and local carrier Thursday.

3Great picture but I can't get past the loud buzzing
By LnA
I was looking for something to replace my 52" Sharp LCD, as I moved it into a secondary room, and spent a lot of time trying to decide between the e7000 and the Panasonic VIERA TC-P60GT50 60-Inch 1080p 120Hz Full HD 3D Plasma TV. After seeing a great deal on the e7000, $1800 with a free Samsung HW-E450 Wireless AirTrack Sound Bar, I was pushed to make that my purchase. After getting the TV setup I immediately noticed the buzzing. Some buzzing in plasmas is normal but, the buzzing of the e7000 was loud enough to be distracting when sitting 10'+ away with the volume at a medium low level, although the buzzing is significantly reduced if sitting off center (>~40 degrees) of the TV. I did some searching online to see what might alleviate the issue and found a few suggestions such as lowering contrast, brightness, and cell light settings, but none of those things worked. I thought I might be able to deal with the buzz and was able to watch a blu ray version of WALL-E, which looked amazing, with the sound turned up to drown it out. After a few more days and trying a few more things I decided the buzzing was too much and called Amazon about getting a replacement, the process was quick and easy. I boxed up the e7000 and within two days they sent someone out to drop off the replacement and to take away the original. Upon powering it up, I again immediately noticed the buzz on the replacement and it is the same if not worse than on the original.Reports I've seen online indicate some people have had to go through 4 or 5 replacements before getting one with an acceptable level of buzz. So at this point I'm not sure if I want to try for yet another e7000 replacement or if I should go ahead and get the Panasonic GT50 which at the moment is priced lower than the e7000.A few notes about my TV setup:I have the TV sitting on its stand, so when sitting on the couch my head is aligned almost dead center with the TV. The buzzing is less noticeable if I stand, crouch down low, or I am off to the side. So for those of you that plan on wall mounting the TV at a height above your head the buzzing may not be an issue for you. I've also been using the sound bar through ARC(HDMI Audio Return Channel) which sounds much better than the built in speakers, but the buzz is present with or without an external speaker connected. Some other things I tried to reduce buzzing with no success: - Unplug other items from power strip - Plug TV directly into wall outlet - Move TV further away from/closer to the wall - Tried various input sources, DVR through HDMI, PS3 through HDMI, analog cable, XBOX 360 through component, and no sources connected at allUPDATE (8/8/2012):I ended up returning the E7000 and going with the GT50. Finally no buzzing! I wasn't able to compare the units side by side but the pictures seem very comparable. I will say I preferred the Samsung stand, as it swivels for the 60" while the Panasonic does not, and menus but after a few hours of use I am satisfied with the GT50 its performance and the fact that it does not have an audible buzz at viewing distance.

4Excellent "white glove" installation! Stunning picture
By Steve
Just received my PN51E7000. I was surprised that the Amazon shipping through CEVA also included "white glove" setup. The driver brought the unit into the house, removed it from the box, attached it to the stand, and powered it up to verify operation. He offered to remove the box and packaging, but I wanted to keep it just in case I need to return. This service was included in the free shipping. As for the TV itself - the picture is stunning, but I'll have to play with it for a few days.Note that it does NOT have a VGA port for connecting a computer - only HDMI. On the plus side, it does have one HDMI port that support audio return channel (ARC) to send sound from the TV apps (e.g. Pandora) back to the A/V receiver without using the digital audio output. Also, Samsung doesn't seem to have an Amazon app for streaming video.Four stars for now, but I may upgrade to five after I've had more time to judge the picture quality.
