5Cheaper at BJs but worth every penny.
By Nicole
Hubby and I bought this as a compulsive buy at BJs for a little over $200. We've had it for a few days and have no complaints about it. It will be at least a year before we can get HDTV so we are watching regular Dish Network tv on it for now.The set-up was super easy, the picture is clear and very easily adjustable to taste using the menu, and the sound is extraordinary!Overall, the unit is well made and should last us years.

1Don't buy Sylvania
By Daisy
I have a 32" sylvania tv that after 18 months has serious issues. After watching it for about 5 minutes it will shut off and turn itself back on (which takes about 3-4 minutes). After contacting the customer service department at Funai they say the power supply is failing and I need to take it somewhere to get repaired. In the manual it says it will provide "Many Years" of enjoyable television viewing. Last time I checked 18 months was not several years. According to the guy I talked to it is a very common problem with sylvania tv's. So if you don't want to replace your tv every year or two, I would suggest a different brand. I did a lot of internet research after contacting them and there are a ton of other people with the same issue and experts saying to stay away from sylvania.

4perfect for bedroom
By resellerskd
Tube TV just died so went to Target and found this model for $239.99. It had the features that I needed, 2 hdmi ports, component and composite input. That said, you cannot use both the component and the composite at the same time, it's one or the other. so you can connect a total or 3 devices to this this tv (not including the coax input which would not be used if you have a cable or satelite service). It has been a month, set has worked flawlessly, backlight is adjustable and it has a decent HD picture.Perfect for smaller living rooms or larger bedrooms.

4Very pleased so far. *EDITED*
By Irishlady
I guess I'll break the ice and be the first to review this TV.I searched for a decent 37" TV at a reasonable price and looked at several different brands. I almost bought a Vizio because of the price, but then I found this Toshiba for less than 600$. Here is what I can say about it so far:This TV has a very good picture especially on the Directv hi-def channels. It has some interesting features that I have not yet used such as:the ability to play picture files (like a giant digital photo frame, andthe ability to play MUSIC files, like a giant Mp3 player. When I press the "mute" (to mute the sound)button, it will mute half way, then another press of the button mutes the sound completely. It has a computer terminal for connecting a PC.It has 4 HDMI inputs. The reason I gave this TV 4 stars is the viewing angles--like most LCDs, you need to sit almost directly in front of the screen. If you try and watch it too far off to one side, the colors get a bit washed out.For an auxillary TV, this one fits the bill. My home theatre TV is a 50" plasma, and that TV blows this one away. But if you just want a fairly large TV for everyday watching and not the whole "home theatre" experience, you will be pleased with this unit. I think Toshiba is a decent brand and most of the reviews on other Toshiba models have been pretty good.

5LOVE THIS TV LIKE A SON!!!
By SteveB
I just purchased this TV to replace my Samsung 27" tube HDTV which was an absolute beast (147 lbs!). This TV is WONDERFUL! It's the 3rd Toshiba LCD in my house (also have a 32" in my bedroom and a 19" in the home office). The picture is crystal clear with rich, bright, vibrant colors. I watch a lot of sports and play video games on this TV and it performs great for both. There aren't noticeable tracers when watching fast action. I wish it had a regular a/v sound output (red & white), but it only offers a digital audio output which doesn't work w/ my out-dated receiver (not the TV's fault). I compared this side-by-side to LG's similarly priced 37" model and it blew the LG away. The picture was brighter, clearer, and lost less quality at an angle. I've noticed some reviews that are critical of the TV's sound, but I'm not having any issues with it. I'm sure it doesn't compare to the sound quality of a home theatre system, but it isn't any worse than any other TV I've owned. If you're looking to get the most bang for your buck on a moderately priced lcd TV, this is the one.

5Nice TV
By Mike V
I'll keep this one short and sweet. Ive had this TV for several weeks now, and couldn't be happier. The picture is awesome. Our other TV is a Samsung 40 inch, which is another highly rated LCD, and I made my own comparison by watching a Stanley Cup Hockey game on both TV's and could not tell any difference. A Hockey game broadcast in HD is a very good test for your TV's clarity, and this Toshiba did not disappoint. The dynamic aspect ratio works great. The fact that Toshiba doesn't publish the contrast ratio should not be a deterrent for getting this TV. Contrast ratio is a marketing gimmick, and the determination should be that if you look at the picture, and it looks great to your eyes, who cares what the actual contrast ratio is? The blacks look black, and the whites look white, and there isn't much more to worry about.Good price for a great TV!

5Excellent 37" HD TV
By Albert J. Valentino
Great 1080 TV. At 37" you need a 1080, with 32" or less 720 is fine unless you are sitting closer than 4 feet. So if you are wondering if you should save a few bucks and go with 720p instead, 37" is the crossover point where 1080p is much better choice because you will see the difference at average viewing distances. Also, at 37" or larger you really need to start investing in blu-ray DVD's since at this size regular DVD's don't view sharply - blu-ray is a 1080 format, regular DVD's are not.Picture quality is excellent from my Comcast HD cablebox and I have not had any problems with ghosting because it is only 60Hz - my preference is to use the 'Cinema' setting with a few slight adjustments. Sound quality is acceptable but not special partly because the speakers are not in front and don't point towards the viewer which is the case with most modern sets but some Samsungs TV's do have speakers in front. This mean sound quality will never be great unless you hook it to receiver. I have a simple two speaker set up in my living room but there is only one audio output jack on the TV and it is for an optical cable. So my less than one year old receiver which only uses analog cables just became obsolete. The remote is good with useful `Format' button. This button is important to quickly adjust the ratio as needed. I almost bought a less expensive Vizio from Walmart but learned that the `format' option is buried in the Menu and requires 7 steps to get in and out - not worth the aggravation. Lastly, the set does take a full 4-5 seconds to turn On. I am not sure if that is typical of all these modern flat TV's but it is with this one, not a big deal but worth mentioning.FWIW, I bought this at Sears because my old set died and I needed something quick. At Sears I was trying to decide between this and a 37" LG, both the same price. Anyway the senior sales guy said both were very good but he would give the edge to Panasonic.I highly recommend this set and Amazon seems to have one of the best prices before taxes, which makes it even better if you are not in a rush and can order online to save another $40 or so on local sales tax.Edited/Updated: I switched my comcast box from the five cables to HDMI and the sound/volume is almost 2x as loud. I used to need volume between 40 and 50 and now 20 is fine. Picture quality still gets very high marks

3Sound problems
By Shades 73
This product arrived on time and a nice guy delivered it and told me not to open it yet because it was a bit cold out and if you plug something like this in when it's cold, it could fry it. So I waited a few hours until I believed it had reached room temp. and set it up quite easily. The stand was easy to assemble as opposed to some of the Samsung reviews, which is why I didn't buy a Samsung. The ease of use was great and it has a very nice picture. The bad thing about it is that the sound has problems....it warbles and echoes and it is sporadic and will quit if you turn off the TV. So, in the first week I had it, I had to call Panasonic. The guy I spoke to told me that it must be my cable box because the speakers are so simple that they couldn't possibly be the problem. So, he told me to unplug my cable box for a while and then plug it back in. Well, that didn't fix it. A couple of weeks later I got a call from Panasonic saying that they had a record of my call and that indeed, there is a problem with the TV when connected via an HDMI cable and they were going to send me some firmware to fix the problem. Several weeks later they sent me two SD cards with the supposed fix. When I put the first card in, it could not read the file. So, I called them again and after waiting a half hour on hold, I finally got through to someone who said that the file didn't have what I needed and that they would send me another set of SD cards. That was yesterday....I bought the TV on April 29, 2010 and this is June 21, 2010. Needless to say, I probably won't be buying another Panasonic any time soon.

5Decent flat panel for the money
By J. Saei
I purchased this set outside Amazon and decided to review it after giving myself two months to experience it.The picture is almost comparable the Sony Bravia EX400. While comparing these two HDTVs in the store I was able to adjust the Panasonic to look as good as the Bravia. However, there were some minor graphic details missing from the Panasonic. For example a gray grid highlighting a baseball score on the Sony did not appear on the Panasonic TC-L37U22.Remote is easy to use and well built. There are controls on the right side of the TV for menu/volume/channel/input. The buttons aren't lighted. The progressive scan does an adequate job in displaying cable channels. It really shines on HD channels. The sound from the built in speakers won't blow you away. For the best sound, it should be hooked into a home theater system.Although the unit has an IPS panel (known for slower response times). While viewing regular sports I have yet to experience ghosting or blurring. Games might be a different story.Overall, I am very pleased with this HDTV.Panasonic TC-L37U22 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV

4Not for older components!
By MollyDawg
This was my first LCD HD purchase. (I'm late to the party.) I chose Samsung, and paid a premium, for one silly feature, which is an on/off timer. Most TVs have sleep timers, but I used my little old 14" JVC to wake up! I couldn't find a reliable maker of LCDs that included an on timer except Samsumg. It not only has an on timer, it has three! Perfect for when you're going to be away and want your TV to go off and on at different intervals to make it appear that someone is home. And of course, to serve as my alarm clock.Sadly, I had to return the unit the following day. Why? Because even though the specs say that it has one composite and one component input, you can only use one or the other as it only has one video jack. Depending on your cable, you plug the video link into the one jack, and the audio into either of the remaining based on whether it's composite or component. You cannot have two machines. I had my old VCR (yes, how quaint that I still use one) and a middle-aged DVD player--one of each. Of course if you have later model attachments, you can use the HDMI, etc. But be advised, this set has limitations for older toys.As for the sound quality I have read about here and on other sites, I didn't notice anything particularly wrong with it. There are about 5 different settings and admittedly one of them is tinny, but the sound was much richer when set to "movie," and it includes an equalizer of sorts. The sound was perfectly enjoyable. So if connecting components doesn't mean anything to you, I recommend it for bedroom or kitchen placement.

1You get what you pay for
By Lang M. Ho
This is one of the cheapest 22" LCD HDTVs out there. And you get what you pay for. When I opened it and set it up it seemed fine aside from a rather flimsy stand. It worked great for a couple weeks (aside from the first time I tried to connect my PC to it). Then it would start acting up while I was playing Xbox. Either losing the picture completely or having it keep automatically adjusting the screen size, changing tints and shades, you name it and it freaked out in that manner. It stabilized itself and stopped doing that, but I have no idea what caused it and basically am just waiting for it to do it again. Do yourself a favor and remember that you get what you pay for, low price means low quality.UPDATE: I would not recommend this product under any circumstances. I had the picture go out or get messed up at least (literally, no joke) 15 times while trying to watch a movie last night. And for anyone wondering if it might be just the component jacks, well, I switch it over to cable just long enough to catch half a car chase on some cop show (I'd be more specific on the title, but the TV didn't stay on long enough for me to see it). At this point I would deem it inoperable and am in the process of returning it.I would also like to add that a lot of the features on the TV make me believe that the TV is not actually made by Samsung, but rather a different company that has coordinated a deal with Samsung to allow the Samsung name to be placed on it.

4Good for price
By Spartan Basketball
This LCD TV is great for the price. Perfect size for my home office. I have no issue with the picture or the sound. People need to be realistic. It is a 22" TV, not meant to be the focal point of a home theatre. Easy plug and play setup takes about 5 minutes from box to functionality.

5Impressive HDTV. Big bang for the buck!
By Quentin
I've had this HDTV for a week and am completely satisfied with it. The picture quality is top notch and the set is easy to operate. There are plenty of inputs for other components and I use many of them already. Over the air 1080i HDTV from the major networks and PBS is amazing, it's hard to believe broadcasts of this quality are free. Standard DVDs played in our upconverting Sony DVP-NS77H upconverting player are very good, of course not Blu-ray/1080p quality but way better than they looked on our old SDTV.The screen is bright and the colors are nearly perfect. My wife and I still can't believe how good this TV is. When you see rear projection sets in the store they don't look that impressive, especially next to a 58" plasma flat panel but once you get it home you won't be sorry. I can't imagine paying $4500 for a plasma this size when you get so much for under $1400.The geometric distortion problems of last year are greatly improved with the stronger and deeper cabinet. Not much wrong with this model at all. Of course take a look at the HLxxA750 LED models as well. They're a bit more expensive but the LED light engine will save you money down the road. I liked the PQ of the A650 slightly better and figured the cheaper price would offset the cost of a lamp replacement a few years from now.I bet you'll love this Samsung!

5perfection
By L. Lee
this is one of the best dlp sets ever. i have been hawking them for about 2 years now. being a gamer plasma was never an option for me and the lcd set cost too much for for a big screen. i was a little disappointed with the 120hz refresh rate beacause i thought it was going to be smooth like the lcd sets but it is not. but then after researching i realized that it does not need it. the picture is so bright and beautiful it is honestly the best picture i have ever seen. much better than even the sony xbr series in my opinion. i am more than satisfied. my wife even said this has been the best purchase we have made this year! blu rays look incredible so smooth and crisp. do your research and compare and you will come to see the best price and picture to match!

4Wow, well worth the money!!
By J. D. Mitchell
I have been eyeing up a Sammy DLP set for quite some time. I initially planned on getting the Samsung HLT6187S for the 61 inch goodness and the LED light source. However, as I continued to procrastinate the price of those sets began to rise as they became harder and harder to find. At that point I thought I may as well jump up to the HL61A750 since it is the successor to my dream TV. Well, unfortunately my old lady voiced her opinion that the 61 inch was "too big" for our modest apartment, but said she backed up my decision either way. But me being the sensitive man I am I couldn't stand to make her unhappy and grudgingly started looking for a 56 incher. My searches would soon bring me face to face with the glorious glow of the Samsung HL56A650. Honestly, if they had a LED powered 56 incher in this series I would have gotten that one instead. I can imagine the reason for this was to lower the price to increase market saturation but I wish they could at least had both versions or a maybe an LED upgrade kit (does that even exist or did I just make that up?).I had a DLP projector a few years back and I've priced the lamps for the TV and they are MUCH cheaper than the ones for my old projector. Even so I was considering buying a replacement lamp and keeping it in the closet when the stock lamp eventually dies so 1) I can capitalize on the lower price while they are in abundance and 2) I won't be weeks without my pretty tv while I wait for the replacement to come in the mail.Alright enough babble, onto the actual TV itself, I order the TV the 16th, and received it on the 24th. CEVA only sent one person out with the TV so being the testosterone filled he-man that I am, I offered to help him bring it up to our 3rd floor apartment. After careful inspection of the unit and waiting for me to be satisfied, he took all the packaging to the garbage after I told him I didn't have space to store it in case of it being defective. The TV settings were so-so out of the box but after using the calibration disc we picked up previously Digital Video Essentials: HD Basics [Blu-ray] the picture was outstanding once we threw on a bluray disc. The television is very attractive even when its not turned on, with its stylish piano black finish and thin bezel. Any other 56 inch tv would overpower our living room but the design of the tv allows it to stay amazing low key. Then you turn the picture on and POW! Your eyeballs explode from resolution overload. The remote is pretty slick looking as well, with a piano black finish that matches the TV (and the PlayStation 3 80GB Motorstorm Pack).I actually thought I was going to be underwhelmed by the sound quality and want a home theater system immediately but I have been pleasantly surprized. Not that the speakers are that great, but they get the job enough that I can allow my wallet to recover the beating buying this behemoth has done before I invest in completing my home theater set up. One thing that kind of surprized me about this tv was that even though there are 3 hdmi hookups, there is only one antenna hook up which I forgot all about. I was actually anticipating hooking an antenna up to the second port to get some free high def channels.Other than those couple of gripes I really have nothing bad to say about the television. The main reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the lack of an LED light source or even an option for one in the 56 inch model. But don't let that be a deal breaker, this is a great tv that gives you more picture for buck than LCD or plasma.

4Great picture but ...
By aznpoet
I got it at a great price under $500. The picture quality is as good as units costing a lot more. It doesn't have 120hz refresh rate or LED backlight at this price point but I don't play a lot of video games; therefore, high refresh rate isn't a must and the advantanges of LED is not that significant enough (100,000 hrs. LED life-span vs. 15,000 hrs. for fluorescent light source) to justify higher cost. It is well-built and looks stylish. Full 1080p HD resolution - awesome! My only beef with this model is that it does not have audio output for use with headphones - only the digital output, which is totally useless. Still, for what I paid and considering the picture quality, it's not a deal breaker.Highly recommended!

4Good Decision
By Mark Losasso
After much research, I decided to purchase this TV and am happy with my decision. I previously owned a Toshiba set (http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-26HF85-Widescreen-HD-Ready-Screen/dp/B000816XK2) that I was very happy with, but was looking for something with HDMI support to hook up my Apple TV. I took stock of what components needed to hook up to the set and with what types of connections (Wii with a component connection, iPhone/iPod with a composite connection, Apple TV with an HDMI connection, and a Blu-Ray player with another HDMI connection). I also had a space requirement that this set fit into perfectly, giving me the largest viewable area in the space I had available.Once I turned the TV on with basic cable, I was not that impressed with the picture quality. After a few minutes and getting all the connections set, I found that HD content looked great, especially at 1080p coming from the Blu-Ray player.I have resisted hooking the TV up to my old receiver (though it does have the inputs available to do so) and surround sound system to get a sense of the audio from the TV alone, and so far, so good. For the price, this is a good set. I have only had it for a week or more, so cannot review the longer term performance, but at this point, I am quite satisfied.

4Good value for decent TV
By Philip H. Tong
This toshiba is a great TV for someone who has never owned an HDTV or just needs an extra TV. But if you compare this to Samsung and Sony, then this TV gets blown away. The remote feels cheap. The options on the TV are limited. But the picture quality is fantastic. I use it to watch netflix from my ps3, play ps3 games, and watch TV sports. All look great. The audio levels are fine, I'm not sure what the other reviewer is complaining about. I've had this TV for 2 months now and no problems so far.Summary: if you are want a no frills HDTV that gives good picture quality, at a good price, this is for you. But if you want more, look elsewhere.

5What a great TV for the price
By vtxdude
I recently rearranged my home office and have been looking for a small TV to put on my desk. Like Bob mentioned I saw this on clearance at Target for 150.00. I've only had it a couple of days but so far so good and HD channels look fantastic. Absolutely perfect for what I wanted it for and a steal at Target..... and not that bad priced here. Looking for a sub 200 dollar TV? Look no further

5Awesome HDTV
By Fabian
This TV is absolutely great ... I do not know why nobody has made a useful comment about this product ... I bought it for my Xbox 360 and the PS3 too, and the quality of the image and sound is AWESOME ... I love it!

2Sound issue
By NostalgicMom
We wanted to replace 2 dying crt tvs with 2 new lcds. This philips seemed to be a great value for the price and the reviews were good. Shortly after receiving and testing both new tvs from amazon I began to question my sanity. I heard high pitched sounds whenever either tv was turned on. The sound stayed even when muted and after disconnected from any other device. The only way to stop it was to turn off the tv. Turned on again the 'mosquito on steroids' sound would be back. Each time louder than before. It has gotten so distracting now that I actually had to dig out our old crt tubes again. This constant squealing just makes the new tvs absolute useless. I am really disappointed but this philips tv just does not seem to be as good as it appeared at first. I am however very thankful to the reviewer who had the same problem and posted about it. I worried that I MUST have been imagining things since nobody else talked about this sound issue. Btw. the picture quality was very nice.Update: We had actually bought 3 of these tvs at the same time. Only 2 had the sound problems. The 3rd tv is working wonderful from day one. No squeal or other issues.
