5A Laservue Saga
By Ernst Steinert
Thank you all for your entries. Reading them was very helpful to me, and I would like to help others by adding what I experienced this past month. Keep in mind I gave this product a full 5-stars because that is exactly what a defect-free L75-A91 deserves. I also posted this review on the AVS Forum, a great resource for home theater. Also, I make no comments about sound. You don't buy a piece of gear like this planning to rely on the internal speakers.I received my Laservue from Walt's on Jan 3. I prepared three years for this decision, starting with considering the 82" DLP, then almost the first 65" Laservue, then waiting for the 75" 2nd generation. I went to see a local Mitsubishi-run demo over a year ago that included the 65" Laservue. A Mits rep handed me a confidential sheet that described the next generation Laservues, and it was an easy decision to wait. Also, I'll give up the extra inches the 82" DLPs provide for the Laservue's elimination of the color wheel and bulb changes. If I want to get a total immersion experience I just plop my butt five feet from the screen at 1080p, and I'm experiencing IMAX! For routine programming 75" looks great from the sofa 10 ft away. One month after my Laservue arrived, I'm happy. But it took a month to get to this point. Now for my purchasing saga...I had plenty of opportunities to view and buy locally. I really wanted the comfort of getting this thing from a reputable dealer just a few miles from my home. Unfortunately that comfort came at an $800 premium (shipping and taxes factored in) over what I found on-line, so I went with Walt's in Phoenix. They treated me just great and I have no complaints whatsoever. They shipped when they promised, and I got regular tracking updates. I was instructed to look for any signs of damage to the shipping carton, and to reject the delivery if anything suspicious could be seen. The truck arrived right on schedule, and the packaging looked absolutely pristine. They even put Mitsubishi's entire package onto a wooden skid, well strapped in the vertical position. I signed and brought my baby home. It was a very cold day, so I just let the whole thing sit in my home for about six hours before uncrating the product. When I opened it up, everything looked perfect.BUTThe moment I turned my Laservue on I knew something was wrong. The red screen logo popped up, but it had a strange shape, angled in from the sides. Sure enough, so did the picture. It filled the screen for about four inches from the top. Then both sides of the picture angled inward symmetrically. The picture height ended about for inches from the bottom of the screen. I also had the infamous "tab shadow" in the upper right corner. Everything worked. What there was of the picture looked great after some tweaking. It was obvious there was severe key-stoning, and I felt it was unlikely the set left the factory that way.BUT I HAVE A SPECIAL LASERVUE HOTLINE...JUST FOR ME!! I registered and called that night, Jan 3, 2011. I listened to the menu choices. Why are they asking me, on a dedicated Laservue hotline, if I want to buy a replacement bulb??? There is no bulb! Hmmm...I got through the menus and waited. My God that music makes me want to strangle the first person I talk to!! But that's not how I treat people, and when someone finally picked up I was a perfect gentleman. It didn't take me long to realize that my "hotline" was a low-level call center outside our beloved US of A (Philippines I later found out.) They try hard, but the point is they can do nothing but pass the info along to the real people that can help us, located in California (customer service) and in Atlanta (tech center). I was promised a call-back the next day.Three days later I got a call, but I missed it and it went to voice-mail. It came from a customer service rep in California, Marcus, but there was no way to return his call, except going to the "hotline" and talking to our Filipino friends. It took forever to get a live body there, listening to that fingernail-on-the-chalkboard music. Finally I got another very nice call-center person, who had no idea who or where Marcus was, but she promised me a callback before the end of the day. Two days later I was talking to Marcus, a wonderful, knowledgeable fellow. He told me he was personally handling my case. I emailed him photos of my issues and he said he would release a work order to my local authorized service center for in-home repair.GREAT NEWS! That service center is superb, friendly, and close. I called them. The owner took care of me personally, and he said he would come as soon as the work order arrived from Mitsubishi. It took three days, and several of HIS phone calls, with the same music-on-hold. to get the work order. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!...Mitsubishi wants to brief all service centers working on a Laservue BEFORE they go on the call. This is such new technology that the Atlanta tech center wants to discuss the specifics with the repairman. I think that's wonderful, especially since my Laservue was the first one my center had been called on. One problem... it took another three days for the Atlanta tech center to conduct that briefing. Part of the delay was due to the ice storm that hit Atlanta. When the tech came (it was the owner himself), I was pumped. We're gonna fix this sucker! The "tab shadow" has nothing to do with a tab. Mitsubishi knows all about it and told my guy exactly what to do. (EVERYONE: the "tab shadow" is really just a peeling supplier label on the inside of the screen frame.) He popped the back of the cover at the top corner and there it was, pretty much right where the shadow is located. Then he went into the service menu to adjust the serious geometry problem, per Mitsubishi instructions. He got it better, but ran out of adjustment. Apparently the Mitsubishi Atlanta folks didn't understand just how bad my geometry problem was. He sent them my pictures, and they came back with instructions to replace the light engine assembly, a sealed unit that contains the chip and it's mirror). They shipped a replacement part 2nd-day air. The next day the tech switched it out and performed the mechanical alignment with the adjustment screws holding the assembly. You get those as close as possible, then do the fine adjustment electronically. He got it a LOT better, but ran out of mechanical adjustment. The best he could do was get rid of most of the key-stoning, and get the whole picture within an inch of the bottom. My Spears and Munsil test pattern still showed significant bowing on the right side.Marcus called. Mitsubishi determined that my Laservue needs to be replaced. This was initiated within 24hrs, and I received full tracking info all along the way. The TV came direct from Mitsubishi's tech center in Atlanta. (I had chosen early on NOT to involve Walt's because this was really Mitsubishi's problem. Walt's did nothing wrong; we did communicate during all this).Mitsubishi provided white glove delivery, and the service was top notch. It was a very cold day and I really did not want to turn the set on right away, but I had to. My Spears and Munsil test pattern was ready to go, and when I turned the TV on the geometry was absolutely perfect. I signed and the delivery guys took the old TV and all the packaging away. As expected, the picture was foggy for a while from condensation on the mirrors, but I could see it improve and after about two hours the picture was perfectly clear. I did some cursory display adjustments with my Spears and Munsil Blu-ray disk. The only thing I noticed is that the factory over-scan setting could be decreased a tad in all directions. Not messing with the service menus until my new Oppo BDP-95 player arrives.I got my original purchase on 1/3. A month later I have a perfect replacement. Perfect geometry out of the box. No "tab shadow." And oh by the way, my old TV "stuttered" too when watching cable, but this new one does not do that.LESSONS/THEORIES:DON'T EVEN THINK OF BUYING A LASERVUE FROM A NON-AUTHORIZED DEALER. (Walt's is authorized.)The "tab shadow" is a part label that should be removed on the assembly line because the adhesive on it doesn't always hold.I believe my "stuttering" was caused by a poor HDMI #1 connection. The cable fits much more snuggly on my new set than on my old.I am convinced, as a degreed engineer, that these TVs don't travel well. I believe a bad pothole hit by the truck can knock these things out with no visible outward signs. They have to turn them on before they leave the factory. I can't believe mine was passed there. I have no worries now that my baby is home, but I believe our poor stretches of interstate can do them in. Walt shipped mine via Yellow Freight. It came through Kansas City to St. Louis, traveling one of the worst sections of I-70, in an ordinary trailer. The replacement from Atlanta was on an "air-ride" suspension truck, the kind used to transport $million medical machines. There seems to be a communication lag between Mitsubishi USA and their call center in the Philippines.NOW THAT EVERYTHING IS RIGHT, I WOULD NOT TRADE THIS LASERVUE FOR ANY OTHER TV I HAVE SEEN. Are you thinking about 3D? You will not get the true effect without a very large screen, and this TV is the best way to get a gorgeous, LARGE image. You'll need the adapter Mitsubishi sells. It works great and takes care of any "future-proof" issues. Also, read up on AVS forums about 3D glasses.Happy Super Bowl Everyone!

5This TV is worthy of it's accolades
By Darby Rose
When Mitsubishi introduced their 65" version of this set, my husband fell in love. We first saw it at a Los Angeles showroom a year ago, and I had a very hard time dragging him out the door. The minute we got home to Florida, he started tracking the information being provided on the "soon to be introduced" 75" version. First, it would be by Christmas, then spring. Finally, Mitsubishi introduced it in August - a long wait, but well worth it.I'm not a techie, so can't begin to elaborate on the amazing features of this awesome HDTV, but if you are looking for a really big screen television, with 3-D like clarity (it is 3D ready) don't hesitate to buy this set. It will make your home the center of football season, with or without the popcorn and beer! The folks at Amazon were very helpful - I think we may have placed the first order for the Mitsubishi L75-A91 that they received. Their "white glove" delivery service was exactly what they said it would be. It took 2 burly (but polite) guys to carry in this set, take it out of the box, and plug it in, and they did so exactly within the time-frame we requested at the time we placed our order. Our hat's are off to Amazon - this was definitely the biggest online purchase we ever made, but it went smoothly, without a hitch. And I have a very happy husband! The only "con" that I can think of is that this dlp HDTV is 15" deep, and weighs about 150 pounds, so you can't hang it on the wall. If having a wall-hung TV is more important to you than the picture quality, you'll need to look at a different product. For us, the picture quality, and the fact that our last Mitsubishi lasted 15 years (we just gave it away to make room for this big guy) made this purchase worth the money.

5Oh my my...

Just got the 75inch Laservue out of the box and did a quick setup. Connected up the Sony BDPS5000ES blue ray player. The blue people in Avatar never look as healthy on this planet. The scale is like nothing I have ever seen, the degree of clarity is a shock (the entire Picture Area is without blemish) We spent most of the evening looking for some detraction, could not find a single element of problem. Yes its expensive but having spent much more over many years of TV buying this is, with out a shadow of doubt, the best we have ever seen. I have nothing but praise for what Mitsubishi has accomplished with this unit. Engineers, THANK YOU.

5King of the Hill
By G. King
For the first year, Toshiba has badged all of its LCD HDTV models as "Regza" which stands for Real Expression Guaranteed by amaZing Architecture. And amazing architecture is what you first notice when you get this 42" 1080p LCD HDTV home. The piano black finish is currently in vogue with high end electronics manufacturers, but upon close inspection the black is actually covered with metallic flakes that give it a deep luster and shine. The soundstrip speaker with SRS Wow technology and formidable bass reproduction is recessed neatly along with an accompanying brushed stainless steel strip along the bottom. The TV is solidly connected to a swiveling base which extends several inches in front of the stand in a large crescent shape to lend stability to the set when it is placed on a tabletop or shelf. The inputs are neatly recessed in the back facing downward for ease of access if and when the set is mounted on the wall. All in all, when turned off, this TV serves as a cosmetically appealing centerpiece to a living room or den.Be prepared: when connected to SDTV (or basic terrestrial cable), the channels appear grainy and washed out. This is because HDTV's all display SDTV fairly poorly; they are equipped to handle much higher resolution sources. So, when connected to a 480i source such as SDTV cable, the picture is poor compared to a CRT TV, whose native resolution is 480 lines of resolution. Prepare, when upgrading to any 1080p set, to purchase a cable or DrectTV package with HD channel programming. If you're hesitant to upgrade to HD broadcasting, probably put off the purchase of any HDTV capable of displaying 1080p, and either buy a larger CRT TV or an HDTV only capable of handling 720p.Toshiba REGZA LCD TV's incorporate what is called CineSpeed into their panels. This essentially means the set employs an 8 milisecond or faster response time for refreshing the image displayed on the screen. For fast moving situations like sports, or high contrast movies with action packed sequences, this feature is invaluable. All previous ghosting associated with LCD TV's has been eliminated, and even bright white objects moving across a dark background look smooth, true to their color, and leave no trail. DynaLight dynamic back light control makes the black truly black, and the whites vivid (almost comparable to plasma TV's with 10,000:1 contrast ratios). Other features unique to this Toshiba Regza TV are ColorBurst wide color gamut and PixelPure 3G 14-bit internal digital video processing. These options, together, make the picture displayed from 1080 p sources unbelievably clear and flawlessly reproduced without overscanning. In response to a review posted for this TV, VGA is a virtually obsolete connection. Most high end computers use either DVI (which is also mediocre) and higher quality media center PC's with Windows Vista premium use an HDMI compatible graphics processing unit with an HD rated display. Few TV's allow a 1080p source from a VGA connection. XBox 360's downfall was not using HDMI compatible hardware - this is additionally where the Playstation 3 far exceeds the XBox 360 in terms of hardware with built in blu-ray that incidentally looks outstanding in 1080p with this TV, but also using HDMI as a connection method. This set is comparable in terms of response time and dynamic contrast ratio to the higher priced LG 42" 1080p model, and beats it in terms of picture tweaking options. The Sharp 42" Aquos 1080p HDTV has a horrible (1,200:1) contrast ratio and is almost not worth purchasing unless you plan on sitting directly in front of the TV. Also, if you plan to sit 2 inches in front of your TV, you probably aren't intelligent enough to own one - the difference between 720p/1080i and 1080p is only noticeable based on how close you are sitting to the television and 2 inches would be close enough to notice jagged edges in even ultra XHD or cinema digital which displays beyond 1080p. Close enough, all smooth lines look jagged and that is the nature of the pixel - pixels are square, therefore all curved lines are composed of a series of straight edges. Also, LG's comparable 42" 1080p HDTV is less than 100 dollars more expensive than this Toshiba, and for the record, LG is only in its second generation of LCD TV's whereas Toshiba is in its 3rd generation (this is the first year for the Regza badge). If you're upset about the component inputs and the VGA not handling a full 1080p signal, buy a 1080p upconverting DVD player (under 100 dollars now) with an HDMI output (I suggest Samsung's DVD1080P7 which has an optical out if you want to hook up to a home theater system). This TV has 3 HDMI inputs and can more than handle all your AV needs. In all, this Toshiba model outdoes Sony's XBR Bravia, Sharp's Aquos, LG, and Samsung models. The dynamic contrast ratio, coupled with the Pixel Pure 14bit processing power produces a sharp, clear picture with unbelievable smoothness, clarity, and vivid realistic color reproduction. In addition, this is one of the only TV's in the under $2,000 range that includes a remote that can be used as a practical universal remote. Some techies love their fancy touchscreen universal remotes a la Logitech Harmony 1000, but this remote is solid, has great range, and is a fitting match to the solid TV it is paired with. Not at all the cheap hunk of plastic you get with the current Sharp LCD TV's on the market. The price of this TV, which encompasses a design quality shared with $3500 Toshiba Regza sets, unique Toshiba features like CineSpeed and Colorburst, 1080p native resolution, and 3 HDMI inputs make it the best value under $2,000 and comparable to much more expensive sets. Whether an audiophile or just someone looking for a great affordable LCD HDTV, this set delivers.

5Amazing Quality!
By P. Speyer
I was finally ready to purchase a HDTV and went down to the local Best Buy because the the great financing of 2 yrs same as cash and sales they had this Memorial Day. I was interested in the 42" Sharp Aquios LCD 1080p before I was on my way down to the store to view all TVs in person. When I got there I saw the other tv I i was slightly interested in to compare it to the Aquios was the Toshiba REGZA 1080p and was blown away by the resolution of the promo they were playing on HD DVD, the price and of course 3 yrs same as cash pan they had on Toshiba tvs. Needless to say I was sold! I got the TV for $1519(minus tax) score. I am a big fan of Toshiba from the TV I replaced which I bought in winter of 2000 which has never given me problems. While I was there I picked my Toshiba HD-A20 1080p HD DVD palyer to replace my original DVD player that I had purchased back in 1999 and paid $400 for, and agian never gave me any problems. Viewing both "Phantom of the Opera" and "Corpse Bride" were amazing at 1080p and I'm a stickler on resolution. Needless to say I side with Toshiba there products and HD DVD. I am at this moment extremely happy with my purchase.

4**Updated - FABULOUS - Just a Great TV - Great value
By H. Beachum
**Updated again 9-27-08 - this TV is still just as great as on day one. The only thing I notice after nearly 2 years, is a bit of hesitation and "green screen" for just a second or two when changing channels. Still our FAVORITE TV. I just got the same model in the 32" for our bedroom - price has really gone down!**Update - over 3 months later and we still love it! I think i like this tv even more now than i did when i first bought it. We have Comcast cable and the hi def sports are great and hi def for Lost and CSI is GREAT! Even standard tv is really nice, but most channels we watch are hi def.Like everyone else, I've been resarching HD widescreen TVs for a while and finally bought this model yesterday. It was a great value price - it's not top of the line but it's affordable for a quality picture. It only has 1 HDMI and is not 1080i and I really wanted a 46" tv, but I just couldn't fork over that much more money. I was leary of how standard tv would look on the larger 46" - afraid it would be too grainy as many reviews say. Most standard tv does look fine on this tv - bu there is much variation in quality from standard channel to standard channel and even from program to program. Be sure to play around with the display options and color settings on a show-by-show basis. The nice thing about this tv is you have the option to view standard tv in the full widescreen if you want. I LOVE the simple, very very user friendly remote. Just because there aren't a lot of tiny tiny buttons doesn't mean there aren't a lot of menu choice features. NOT AT ALL. The menus are easy to scroll through and easy to understand.I haven't experienced any on/off issues when switching from standard to hd channels as many reviews on the 40S2000 and 46S2000 proclaim, but I bought the 4yr warranty from BB just in case. I woudn't consider buying such a high dollar electronic without an extended warranty and would only buy from a brick and mortar store since Amazon won't take returns for any reason. On many of the models in stores, I would try to notice flaws with the sets. On the Toshiba 42", there were flickers on the very top row of the screen on the display models and the standard tv did not look very good at all. Samsung consistently had flickers and lines through the display models and standard tv looked even worse than Toshiba. Now granted, the displays are on 24/7, but still, i think it's an indication of future problems. I wish there were more 42" choices, but I guess the difference between 40" and 42" would not be too noticable. Also the Samsung models consistently seemed "wobbly" on the their pedestals. I guess I figured that Sony would be a reliable and good choice. All in all, I love this Sonytv - it was relatively easy to set up although if you have Comcast cable and a hi def/dvr box, the set up wasn't exactly according to directions. We can't apply the "digital" choice on the menu - we finally had to page through to "video 6" by pressing the TV/Video button 6 times to get the picture to work, but it's fine now.Our next hd tv will be a 46" but only after a lot more channels are hi def and a lot more programs within the hi def channels actually are hi def. I'll update this review if I experience any problems, but other than a somewhat frustrating 20-minute setup and the fact that I could only afford the 40", this tv is a great tv with quality "feel" to it and nice nice picture.

5The Average Joe's Review
By Mr. E
I bought this TV in a BF sale. So price was not a factor. Basically I got it for cost or what the current 42" plasma are selling for. I wanted an LCD over a plasma since I have little kids and the burn-in issue was a major fear. The kids will pause the DVR and leave the room 20 times a day. So even with the current low cost of 42" plasmas, I knew I would need a LCD instead of the plasma.I am a Sony TV fan. I currently have a Sony 32" tube & 43" big screen and have been very happy with the picture and life of these TVs. So for now, Sony is still held in high regards with respect to brand loyalty for their TVs. Sony DVD players, that would be a whole other negative review. As stated, the remote on this TV is shoddy. I to have issues with using it since I have to press the buttons numerous times to have it switch video options. I would place the remote quality below a all-in-one remote. But, since we will all have cable/sat, this should not be a big issue since we will rarely use this remote other then to switch from TV to games/DVD.The TV itself is fantastic. Picture quality using component cables from DVR to TV was much better on analog/digital and HD channels then in the store. I found very little jaggedness around the edge of the things being shown as I noticed when looking at them in the store. Analog pictures come in very good using a cable DVR. Digital is very clear. HD is WoW. Remember, I have the 43" 1080i big screen, but this TV gives the HD a whole new life. Even TNT/HD looks great!780 vs. 1080. The average person will not see the difference. If you have the extra $1000, buy the 1080I version of this TV. The difference is a slight clarity in the picture which you probably will not notice at 8-10 ft away. These are my issues with the TV. There are a lot of +s, but we all just want to read to see if there are any problems or issues we can not live with before we buy it. Well I recommend this TV and would buy it again, but here's what I had issues with.Issue one is that this TV only has one HDMI port. Bascially it gives you a better picture and sound using one cable instead of 4-5 cables (3 component and 2 RCA /or/ 1 optical cable for sound) My DVR has a DVI port so I bought a cable to allow me to use this instead of the component cables. Since it only has a DVI on the cable box, I will still need a RCA or optical cable for sound. I bought an upconverting DVD player, have a PS3 and the cable box all have HDMI connections. I purchased an HDMI switch from Monoprice.com ($112)which allows me to hook up to 5 HDMI devices into the TVs one HDMI port. So it is the same as having a TV with 5 HDMI ports! The picture is slightly crisper and the wiring in the back of the TV has gone from about 15 wires(components/optical) down to only four HDMI wires. My biggest issue with this TV is the DVD playback quality being played on it using my progressive scan DVD player. I was a little disappointed because the picture is a lower quality then if I played the DVD using my big screen. It's still good, eqivalent to the digital cable channel picture quality, but it lacked that crisp perfect picture I was expecting and looking forward to. UPDATE-I bought a Panasonic S52 upconverting DVD player ($50 Buy.com)and it has improved the picture quality from my prior progressive player significantly. Plan on buying one if you get this or any other TV. Blu Ray from the PS3 plays very clear and nice.Issue three is the factory settings. When you first turn on the TV, you almost have a tear come down and want to return the TV back to the store before the wife says I told you so. Go to the AVS forum and get the settings they recommend for the TV and then you'll be in heaven. This is not rocket science, just changing the color, hue, backlight etc in the main menu to get the TV to look just right! Once done, It makes a big difference in the overall look of the picture quality.Overall, you will love this TV. Buy it, and enjoy, you've made the right decision.

4I am happy with it.

I was eyeing on s2400 model, but couldn't pass really good sale price of s2010. (Got one during last Black Friday Sale from Circuit City.)Amazon's current price ($1599) is still pretty good with free shipping (and tax).On paper (sony's own web page), s2400 has better dinamic range (5000:1 using ACE) and it comes with different casing design (which I prefer). Also, it was mentioned that s2400 has ATSC tuner with QAM and s2010 was just written as ATSC tuner only. I only have basic cable and wanted to get QAM clear-channels.Well, after all, I found that 2010 does come with ATSC tuner with QAM and I was able to get many free digital channels which includes some HD channels.Factory setting of picture was too contrasty for my taste. Each video input you can have Vivid, Standard or Custom settings and you can fine tuen each settings again. All initial settings, however, were set to very dark and rich color with max. contrast. HD was ok, but SD look bad- Too much sharpenning. After spending some time tweeking display settings, I was able to make very smooth, natural looking color. Now, everything looks great (even SD broadcasting). I increased brightness (from 50 to 65) and reduce color (from 50 to 35).One disappointing thing is the remote control. Remote control does looked cheaper than usual Sony remote controls and it was very directional - I had to aim well to the TV set, otherwise it won't respond. Most of old Sony remote use to have good range and wide angle coverage - I could even face backwards and it was ok.I also tried connecting my notebook using a VGA cable came with the TV. It showed PC screen with 1280x768 and later I was able to use full screen with 1366x768 setting. The screen looked very sharp.I am not sure what is the change from old S2000 model other than casing color (silver to black). Personally, I like the black color especially with no glossy finish. Other than color they looked identical. Of course, I can not tell what's been changed inside - I doubt any changes, though. After a week use, I really like it and now I think it even look better than s2400 I wanted to buy.Overall, I am very happy with the purchase.

5The best 32" LCD TV on the market
By Gene Kosobuski
I conducted an extensive and exhaustive review of all 32" LCD TVs currently available prior to making my TV selection. I narrowed my choices to the following: the Panasonic TC-32LX60, the Samsung LN-S3251D, and the Sony KDL 32S2010. All had excellent pictures, realistic color rendition and a fine balance between contrast and depth of black level. I eliminated the Panasonic because it did not have a PC input port which I though long term would be something I would use more and more of. Also the Panasonic did not have the quality depth of blacklevel the others had. The Samsung was eliminated since the high gloss black cabinet finish reflected room lights and you could see window reflections as well. This became more and more of a distraction as I watched the TV since my eyes tended to be drawn to those reflections on the panel surrounding the screen. I ultimately decided to go with the latest 32" Sony -- the KDL 32S2010 and can now report I am completely pleased with it. One additional advantage of the Sony is that it has very easy to read, understand and navigate owner's manual. Setting up the TV was a breeze. As a final point, Amazon (via J&R) had the best price on the TV of any online site.

5Excellent 32" LCD TV
By D. Acharya
I was waiting for a long time for this TV to come to US market. It was introduced in the UK market few months back and my friends told me that it was an excellent TV. I did an extensive review of all 32" LCD TVs currently available in the market before making my final selection. I narrowed down my choices to the following 2 TVS; Samsung LN-S3251D and the Sony KDL 32S2010. Both of these TVs have excellent pictures, realistic color rendition and a fine balance between contrast and depth of black level. Though look wise Samsung LN-3251D has an edge over KDL-32S2010 but KDL-32S2010 TV has much better sound quality than the LN-3251D. I own this TV for almost 2 months now and I am a quite satisfied customer. I just love its picture and sound quality. The picture quality is even better for HD channels.

4lots to love
By T. Cunningham
I've had this TV for about a month now and it's terrific. HD content is incredible, though like other LCDs standard definition TV doesn't look quite as good as on a regular tube TV. I particularly like that all of the image properties are highly adjustable through the on-screen menus. One of the reasons I bought this model was the PC (VGA D-sub) input, and it is great with my HTPC. A drawback, I thought, is that there is only one HDMI input. I bought a Sony upconverting DVD player at the same time to connect through HDMI, but discovered something odd. When receiving an HD signal or when using the DVD player through HDMI, the TV chooses the "zoom" level and you can't change it. I tried to play a DVD with a 4:3 image over HDMI and the TV stretched its width and I couldn't change it. Also, DVD via HDMI is upscaled to 1080i while via component inputs it is 720p, so I went back to component for the DVD player, and the image quality is just as good.

5Excellent plasma for a heck of a deal - but NOT 3D - essentially the same as the 550
By Just a guy
This is not as large as you might think. The overall size of this is nearly the same as my Samsung HP-S5053 50-Inch Plasma HDTV. The difference is that the old plasmas have a very large thick bezel and this has a very thin boarder - thus reducing its overall size.To be clear, this absolutely has full widescreen 16:9 capability. It is HD 1080p compliant. Some widescreen movies are shot in 2.35:1, so those will still have black bars at the top and bottom. Maybe this is what the other reviewer was referring to.The picture is very high quality here - much better than my 50" plasma. The blacks are very deep and I haven't seen any real evidence of ghosting. The features on this are very full, but I don't use my Plasma for much more than a simple monitor - I run everything through an AV receiver. I access Netflix and other web apps through my LG BD570 Network Blu-ray Disc Player. This is not 3D capable.Oh, by the way, a note on model numbers: The PN58C500 is really the same as the Samsung PN58C550 58-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV (Black), but was released for Black Friday deals with a new model number and - I believe - one less HDMI input than the 550. I believe it is otherwise the same set as the 550. This is not last years model. Last years models had a B instead of a C in the model number, ie. PN58B. . .Be careful to know who your seller is. I bought this when the seller was Amazon and got free shipping, not someone else. It switches back and forth from time to time.

5Great Value
By Nader
Wow! - what a great product. This 58 inch plasma TV is a a great value and provides a lot of bang for the buck. It is nearly identical to the PN58C550. It is short 1 HDMI input and maybe a color adjustment feature. The technical information on the web for this product is limited and often inaccurate. It does have an ethernet input, 3 HDMI (1 on the side), 2 Component inputs, 1 RCA input (on the side), 2 USB (1 - on the side), 1 Coaxial, and 1 PC input. It has PIP which is a nice feature, but works for the coaxial input only. Like any plasma there is some glare, but not annoying - Note I have it in a room with a bunch of windows. With regard to the product radiating heat or making a buzzing sound, well I have not experienced any problems yet and dont expect to. Other reviews for this product have suggested the volume is weak and frankly I have no idea what they are talking about. The TV is in a room that is about 20 x 20 with 20ft ceilings and I can hear it perfectly on volume setting 10 out of 100! There is a setting to adjust volume out of standard mode to either 'movie', 'clear voice', 'music', or 'amplify'. I have it on 'clear voice' and it is perfect. I also adjusted the viewing mode to 'dynamic' which makes the TV look a little brighter. Overall, I am satisified with my purchase and will be sure to update the review should I experience any issues with the TV.

5Superb Deal
By jmac
Incredible TV for the price. Essentially Identical to the PN58C550G1F. Reviews for that unit are applicable to this model as well. Great contrast and picture, sound is decent but not mind blowing. Some people mentioned the 'buzzing' sound from the speakers. I can hear it on mine, but it's faint. I imagine most people who purchase a TV like this will have a surround sound setup. The reviewer below who said it "does not support 16:9 aspect ratio" has absolutely, positively no idea what they're talking about. This is a 16x9 TV.Oddly enough, one of my favorite features is that there are no LED status lights when the unit is on. I can't tell you how distracting this is to me on other TVs. A small red LED is on when the unit is off, but powered.

5LC-32D44U is an excellent TV! Very well-balanced and always looks good!
By N. Williams
I have both this TV as well as a Samsung LN-T2642H. It's very interesting to compare the two TV's performances. If you want the more balanced natural look, go with Sharp. If you're more interested in a vivid, colorful image go with Samsung. I also did an extended look at the Toshiba 26HL67.There is a key difference between the panels Sharp uses compared to others. Sharp's TVs are made with panels called S-IPS while Samsung, Sony and Toshiba currently use a panel called S-PVA. This has everything to do with why Samsung, Sony and Toshiba have very strong color but one thing I noticed about Samsung is that when you look at it for a slightly low angle, the color gets darker and starts to invert. If you look it from above, the color gets lighter and starts to invert. With the Sharp, no matter what angle I look at it, the color doesn't change AT ALL! This is very impressive and cool!I also notice that when I played around with the TV settings, it doesn't need much to look good, it almost always does. When you turn on the Active Contrast mode on the Sharp (it's equivalent to DNIe), it doesn't totally knock out the details in darker areas. At first, I had to keep checking to see if it was on or not because I was so used to the way the Samsung crushes black details even on the Low setting. Once again, I was more impress with the way this TV addresses contrast in fact I think the Sharp does a better job with contrast because of its black color. The Sharp's black color is closer to black than the Samsung. The black color on the Samsung is more of a dark blue even on Warm temperature (it's especially noticably at slight vertical angles) but with the Sharp the black was much closer to real black. The speakers on the Sharp doesn't distort at volume levels higher than 30. With the Samsung, when u turn the volume up pass 30, the bass tends to distort the fidelity of all the sound resulting in a buzz. This is probably due to the build of the unit and the lower wattage for the speakers. Sharp doesn't sound perfect either but it's definitely warmer and clearer at high volumes thanks to having 10 watts per speaker instead of 5. I would recommend everyone to get a 2.1 speaker for any LCD TV though. Take advantage of those sound outputs on the back of your TV! :) It definitely takes your experience to a higher level! One minus I have with the Sharp was that it didn't have a headphone jack.Overall, I think this is an excellent 32" TV. Sharp is definitely worth a look and probably my new LCD manufacturer of choice. It doesn't need as much tweaking when you switch between uses. I tested both TVs with PC (via DVI>HDMI), Xbox 360, HDTV, SDTV, HD-DVDs and upconverted DVDs. With the Samsung, I find myself always tweaking the settings between uses like changing the Energy Saving level, turning up the Digital NR for SDTV, turning it off for everything else, toning down the DNIe.Thanks to Sharp's OPC, the backlight adjust very intelligently based on what's on the screen. I just leave the Active Contrast on because I know I'm not missing out darker details, the picture is very sharp and the panel is slightly faster thanks to the 6ms speed, which equals less motion blur with things like text and more solid image overall. This Sharp is the real deal and reminds me much more of a CRT than the Samsung because the Samsung requires too much twinkering to get things comfortable. I think if the Samsung's black was more like true black and the vertical angle didnt distort so much I wouldn't tweak it as often. So in summary, if you want the most vibrant colors and don't mind tweaking between uses by all means get a Samsung. (I still like the Samsung and would give it a 4 out of 5)If you want a more, natural looking picture, that doesn't offer or require as much tweaking because it just plain looks good, go with a Sharp.I think Toshiba and Sony TVs tend to do a better job with black crush and black color than Samsung but since the panels are the same technology (S-PVA), they still have the vibrant color and probably some vertical viewing weirdness.

5Great TV. Best value for the money spent.
By S. Gannavarapu
This is my first HDTV (I am an electronics engineer so, it took very long for me to buy one that i like). But this tv blows me off. Great natural colors, no bright and deep colors as in other samsung and toshiba Tvs.The Menu is simple but even then it gives wide range of adjustments. Don't be attracted by the video reviews of the other TVs given all over the internet about the different options you can change on your TV because you know what, not many people use all those menu items. This has got bunch of inputs to it and it also have a headphone jack. I added my Bose system to this TV and it really gives a great Movie Experience. The edges can be a little too glossy, but if you are a person who likes to keep the things neat, you will love the gloss.Very useful menu item as skipping the Inputs makes this more versatile.16 ( 4 x 4 ) Customizable favourite channels make life a little more easy. I bought this TV for the olympics and the NBC gives a HighDefinition Feed using the regular cable(no HD receiver required to watch some of the channels like NBC, TNT, A&E ) and its absolutely stunning. I also get some digital channels that are great. The audio can be skipped between mono, stereo, surround where available. This is a tv that can be rated more than 5.Pros: Everything.. really amazing tv.I cannot believe you are still reading the review instead of going to the store and buying one. But for those who " have to read " here are thecons: The Remote has to be really pointed to the receiver which can be a pain somtimes and also the channels skip a little slow, but that doesn't bother me.note: avoid plasmas they give out toomuch glare.update: the latest plasmas are giving much lesser glare then the older ones, i guess the technology has finally caught up.If you are looking for a tv at this size, it really doesn't make a lot of difference between 720p and 1080p/i. it only matters when you go for a more bigger tvs.And as an electronics engineer , i can safely say, that Sharp carrys one of the greater tv screens if not BEST.Hope this review helps. Please email me with questions. more than happy to reply.

4Great set
By M. Forbes
I found it hard to find any reviews on this particular model online but I decided to take a chance, since its predecessor, the lc32d43u was pretty well rated. i am glad I did. I find the picture quality very good even in standard definition (with a digital feed) and there are plenty of options for you to get the quality the way you like it. My only small problem is that at some angles the picture can be bit washed out, but this is only at severe side angles. Overall good value for money.

5Really nice LCD... good customer service
By A. Williams
I received my tv with a damaged panel. Thankfully, Samsung provides free in-home repair for their products through their authorized repair agents. It was a good experience, relatively hassle free, and now the TV looks as good as it should have to begin with. It has all of the basic functions that you'd look for, including 2 HDMI and 2 component inputs, and a host of picture settings. The sound is fine but not thrilling, and chances are it's a bedroom tv (my situation) or you have a surround sound hookup through the digital audio out. I am very pleased with the depth of the blacks, as at 8,000:1 the contrast ratio is as high as many plasmas were just a year ago. The color accuracy is quite good (once you do some calibration to your tastes) and the dedicated brightness setting helps you customize it to the brightness of the room you are in. I haven't noticed any false conturing nor any motion blur, as the refresh rate is also good. Though maxing out at 1080i/720p, at this size the extra dollars for 1080p are really wasted. Save your money there and get a 19-in LCD for the kitchen! My simple, yet favorite, feature is the input recognition. No cycling through all possible inputs to get to the one you want; only active inputs come up when cycling through your sources. Nothing really negative to say... other than the lag between turning on the set and getting a picture, but that is a common LCD trait. The TV's design is attractive, has all of the features you really need, and was a really reasonable price (thank you Lightning Deals!). I recommend it.

4Among the best at this size ...

Having worked previously as an electronics salesman, I have a working knowledge of HDTVs. I always recommended the Samsung models as "among the best," but never had seen one within a home and running as most consumers would. Until recently ...My mother owns this model and has for a few weeks now. It's classy-looking with a glossy outer bezel and an oval stand (included). The TV itself seems larger than the competitors, simply because the speakers are located on the sides. This helps give a more natural-sounding stereo effect without the extra cost of a home theater system. It's just got a high-end, quality look to it. Samsung LCDs are renowned for having a top-notch viewing angle. This holds true with this model. Stand nearly 180° to the side, and the picture is still bright and clear. LCDs have come a long way in a few short years. The remote is well-marked and easy to use. TV-accessed menus are simple and quick to navigate. My mother, not well-versed in knowledge of consumer electronics, was able to configure the settings herself with very little help.Unlike lower-end competitors, though, this 3-series Samsung does not offer any separate composite hookups (the 3 red, white, and yellow plugs). One of the component hookups must be used in place. If you have, say, a DVD/VCR combo, Dish Network (non-HD), and a Nintendo Wii to all hookup, you're out of luck. There simply isn't room for more than 2 non-HD inputs. It can be annoying to have to repeatedly unplug and replug items into your new TV. If you plan on using at least one of the HDMI plugs, though, this problem is avoided. However, be aware that most direct competitors do offer more non-HD hookups. For the price, you can find larger TVs. Big retailers are often willing to sell last year's models at cheaper prices (ie 720p TVs) because most people spending $700+ want the latest and greatest. If you just want a quality TV and you plan on using the HDMI hookups for true High Definition viewing, this is probably the best picture you'll find. I made sure my mom knew what to look for when she went shopping - and she agreed by getting this one.Best of luck to you!

5A great low cost second HDTV
By Leedoh
I got this TV for our basement for the Wii that we just purchased as we have a 55 inch DLP upstairs for our normal viewing. The reason why we got a lower end LCD was 1 price, 2 it wasn't going to be our everyday TV to watch so I wasn't quite as concerned with the picture quality, and 3 we wanted to mount it on the wall so that we would not have issues with hitting it with our Wii remotes. The picture quality is great with the Wii and is good for TV. I would recommend this TV for someone that isn't going to use it as their primary TV. If they were buying a primary TV I would suggest spending more and getting a 1080p as you can see the difference in picture quality. Again though, this TV delivered on why I got it and didn't disappoint one bit.
