5Super Bright Clear Fast 3D LED TV
By Kirby A. Van Horn
I have delayed upgrading to HDTV for quite a while waiting for better technology and lower prices. I decided to try the Samsung 40 inch LED HDTV capable of 3D after watching a number of different sets from a number of different manufacturers. I specifically avoided the Plasma type TVs due to the large amount of Radio Frequency Interference that they generate. The Samsung TV has a beautiful bright Clear color picture and meets all of my expectations!! On black and white shows, the picture is almost too good as it is very crisp! On 3D movies, using the required 3D glasses, the picture is just plain astounding!!!!! It feels like you are in the middle of the action. For the price, the 40 inch Samsung is highly recommended as a BEST BUY by me!!! If you want to watch 3D blu-ray movies, you must purchase the 3D specific Blu-Ray player from Samsung, as well as the Samsung 3D glasses. Not inexpensive, but well worth the money!! I LOVE Mine!Samsung UN40C7000 40-Inch 1080p 240 Hz 3D LED HDTV (Black)

4Great TV ... Almost
By M. Braunstein
I had been admiring the new Samsung LED TVs for some time and, when the old TV in our bedroom got struck by lightening, I took advantage of Amazon's great bundle deal and bought this 40" 3D set along with the 36 Blueray DVD player and two pairs of 3D glasses. The TV is pretty much everything I would expect from Samsung. Great styling, amazingly thin and light and a first class picture. I can't comment on the 3D picture because I haven't tried it yet (there isn't much 3D programming around at this point but it's nice to be "future proof"). I would have given it five stars but one of the TVs key features -- Samsung's Internet TV -- is clunky at best and web streaming of movies from Netflix does NOT work at all. After hours on the phone to Samsung and Netflix support I finally got everyone to agree that the Netflix feature just doesn't work with these TVs. Supposedly a software upgrade is in the works but no one would even give me an estimated date.If Internet TV is your main driver for buying a new Samsung set I would advise waiting a while, this technology isn't yet ready for Broadway!

4VERY NICE TV!!!
By hello
THIS IS AN EXTREMELY GOOD TV WITH NICE COLOR AND CONTRAST. THE 2D TO 3D CONVERSION ISN'T THAT GREAT BUT REGULAR 3D CONTENT SUCH AS ESPN3D AND 3D BLU RAYS HAVE OUTSTANDING 3D EFFECTS. THE ONLY PROBLEM I FIND WITH THIS TV IS THAT IF THE BACKLIGHT IS SET TOO BRIGHT, YOU GET THE FLASHLIGHT EFFECT IN THE 4 CORNERS AND A BIT OF CLOUDING. BUT IF YOU BRING THE BRIGHTNESS DOWN WHICH HELPS THE PICTURE CONTRAST IT'S NOT THAT BAD. OVERALL I THOUGHT THIS TV WAS A GREAT BUY.

5Beautiful TV with a cool remote
By GKCMilner
I have been using my TV for about 4-days now. I know Amazon has a separate shipping/packaging review area so I won't let what happened reflect on this rating, but I do want to mention that the TV was shipped in the store box with no additional packaging or protection. The first TV arrived with a cracked screen, but Amazon overnighted another TV (packed the same way) and it arrived OK.I bought this TV based on my experience testing one at a local electronics store. I was really impressed with the 3D quality using passive glasses which was a requirement for me (I did not want active shutter); I also really liked the remote. I found it super easy to type in the search fields and to make on-screen selections. It's very accurate and easy to use. And since the TV also has an IR receiver I was also able to add the TV to my Logitech Harmony 880 remote as well.It has taken some time learning how to use all the TV features correctly because the owner's manual is weak, which is probably my biggest complaint. It took me a while to figure out what all the 3D setup options were and what all the selections were for. The on-screen interface is very cool and super easy to navigate; especially with the magic remote. The only thing lacking that I wish it had is Pandora radio. There must be some legal reason because when I use the TVs web browser and go to Pandora.com there is no audio. IN LG SmartTV there are a lot of free apps, including some cool 3D programing.Picture quality is great with plenty of brightness. I was impressed that it was to my liking right out of the box. There is a short setup process when you first turn it on that lets you turn the energy saving feature on/off (I chose off) and if the TV is in a store/home (I chose home). It has no more or less light bleeding than any other LED TV I sampled, and has no light leakage. My Samsung had a more even backlighting, but that is only noticeable when it's a black screen; and seems to be a problem with a lot of LED TVs (all the ones I looked at anyway. One thing I would like to point out is that I seem to get the best 3D experience when the room is completely dark. I normally watch TV with a soft light behind the TV, but I now turn it off when I'm watching 3D. Glare also really impacts the 3D quality. To top all of this off, the TV is one of the most beautiful sets on the market. I replaced a 40" Samsung LCD, and I was worried that this 47" might be too big in the same space; but because it is almost frameless it is only 1" wider (the Samsung had a distracting thick, high gloss frame). It has a sleek modern design with brushed metal accents. The stand is a very heavy plastic with a matching brushed metal finish.All-in-all I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I feel I got a great price and I love the package deal from Amazon that included LG AG-F216 Cinema 3D Glasses Family Pack (6-Pairs) for 2011 LG 3D LED-LCD HDTVs and the LG NB3520A 300W Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer.***UPDATE***After using it a bit more I wanted to add a couple things:The light bleeding I mentioned earlier is only noticible on the initial startup splash screen where the LG logo is on a black background. Once the TV warms up there is almost no noticable light bleed on dark scenes. I am very happy with this. When watching a movie from a flash drive, the play, pause, forward, rewind, buttons on my Harmony remote don't do anything. I have to use the magic remote. We watched the Immortals in 3D and the effects were nothing short of amazing. We are so happy with this TV.***UPDATE 2***If internet access and Apps are important to you, you might be disappointed. To me the LG Smart TV Apps are pretty much worthless. I like Netflix, Amazon VOD, Pandora Radio, iHeart Radio, and Slacker Radio. The only one that this TV has is Netflix (it does work well). The TV has a decent web browser, but when I go to any of the radio websites they block the sound. Navigating Amazon Prime VOD is just a terrible experience and not worth the effort. I will be connecting my Logitech Review back to the TV. Bottom-line: Great hardware, disappointing web connectivity. If this were a 10-star rating system I'd give the TV an 8.5The 3D really impresses.

5Smart, and Easy to Use
By Rex Kullmann
This handsome TV features a thin bezel and modern look, ease of use with attractive menus and very good picture quality.Set UpLike all other flat panel TVs, once you unbox the set, you'll need to assemble and attach the stand. LG's stand seems a little flimsy. There's some give when you touch the TV and the manual gives specific instructions on where you should grab the TV when you pivot it on the stand. I've had no problems, but a more substantial feel would be comforting. When you first turn on the TV, it takes you through a few easy steps to set it up. Pairing with the remote, joining your wi-fi network, choosing your energy saving preferences and the like. My TV also found a software update once it was connected to my wi-fi and prompted me to upgrade. Easy.Performance and The FlawI'm a TV production veteran of many years. I'm really picky about picture quality in some respects, but don't care a bit about some of the things some TV reviewers seem obsessed about. What you can see with test signals isn't very important. What matters, in my humble opinion, is what you are seeing when you sit down to watch. Are you watching the movie or watching how your TV performs? The LG's picture quality is very good, but there's one Flaw that takes me out of the moment and makes me pay attention to the TV.The LG 6700 uses LED edge lighting. It results in splotchy light leaks around the perimeter of the screen. The Flaw is visible during dark scenes and in a darkened viewing room. How bad is it? It's invisible 99% of the time, but when the movie ends and the credits come up, there's those glowing globs around the edges. When the hero goes into the haunted house with a flashlight, there's those ghosts all around him. Turning on the Energy Saver feature, which reduces the backlight when the room is dark, lessens The Flaw somewhat. It's pretty easy to overlook The Flaw since the LG has a great picture otherwise. Good, well saturated color, plenty of contrast and good brightness. 3D performance is stunning. If you want to change something, you'll find every adjustment you can think of in the settings menu. So overall, I rate the LG's picture very good despite The Flaw. This LG is one of the many new TVs that use glossy screens. Glossy screens give a more vivid and colorful picture than non-glossy screens, but at a cost. They are much more reflective. Is a glossy screen for you? Pretend your TV screen is a mirror. If you're sitting on your sofa looking at that mirror, would you see a strong light source, like an unshaded lamp or a window? If so, you'll prefer a TV with a non-glossy screen. This LG's audio performance is mediocre. There is an EQ built-in the settings menu, but using it to boost the bass makes little difference. The speakers just can't reproduce it. While the audio is fine for dialog, I think LG assumes you'll use a sound system if you care about fidelity.3DThe LG uses passive 3D glasses. They produce a good 3D viewing experience and have an advantage over active shutter glasses in that they are much cheaper to buy, don't use batteries, and are universal among brands. Next time you see a Real D 3D movie in the theatre, hang on to your glasses. They work fine with this TV. You get 6 pair of 3D glasses with this LG. Your local Best Buy carries additional glasses from LG and Real D including kid sizes and clip-ons and high-priced premium stylish ones. Here's the part of the review where I expected to dismiss the 2D to 3D feature. The LG, like many new BluRay players, will synthesize 3D from regular 2D content. Darned if it doesn't work pretty well. It's not as good as real 3D, of course, and you probably won't use it that much. (Are you going to start watching CNN in 3D every night?) But for a few choice programs, it's surprisingly good. There's a button on the remote that toggles 3D on and off with one button press. All in all, LG has done everything possible to make 3D simple to enjoy with a minimum of fuss. Push the 3D button, put on the glasses and eat your popcorn.Smart TVThis TV has apps, just like your smart phone. There is no longer a menu where you adjust picture and sound settings. There's an app that does that. There are apps to switch inputs, search for available video you can download, browse the internet, turn 3D on and off, display media from your smart phone or computer, display the user's manual and on and on. 21 apps come preloaded on the LG, and you can download more. Most of those are gateways to other content, including a lot of children's programming. Most are free. You can get to the apps you've installed through the My Apps menu, or through the home screen which also has a "Premium" menu where you'll find Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and more. The "3D World" menu has a number of streamable 3D programs. Most menu screens keep the program you were watching when you entered the home screen boxed in the upper left corner. You can select it to close the menu and return to your program.LG's operating system seems rock solid, but some of the apps are buggy. The internet browser, for instance, seems impressive at first with tabbed browsing and flash installed. But some websites will lock it up, even to the point where it's difficult to make the browser quit. And while flash is present, using it will bring a warning that you're using an old version and it won't be supported for long. Another app, AccuWeather, gave me a face full of error messages when I tried to add Fort Lauderdale to my favorite cities.Still, LG has sent out at least one update since my set was built, so there's reason to believe the bugs will get squished eventually.Media Link allows you--theoretically--to view your computer's media files on the LG's screen. It requires a third party app, Plex, to be installed on your computer. I have a MacBook, and the Apple version of Plex crashed immediately when I launched it. No Media Link for me!The RemoteLG has gone its own way with the remote control. Instead of a wand with a zillion buttons, you get a wand with a few buttons that works like a Wii controller. You wave it in the air to move a cursor on the screen. It's clever, but I have gripes.First of all, the buttons are mostly surfaces flush with the face of the remote. Also, there is no light or glow-in-the-dark lettering on the remote, so when it's dark, you're left to fumble about on a seemingly featureless wand. I don't know how many times I've moved the cursor over the icon I want, then pressed the button only to have the muting come on. That's the button directly below the select button. While you're waving the remote around, it stays on. When you're still for a few seconds, the remote turns off. So if you're perusing the menus and pause to read something, the cursor will disappear and you'll have to shake the remote to get it back. When this happens over and over, it gets annoying. Also, if you take a swig of your drink, then bump the remote when you put down your glass, a big red cursor pops up on the screen to spoil the mood your movie was trying to build. While I struggle with this remote, everyone else in my household like it. Pointing at icons on a big screen is much better for them than searching for the right button on a crowded remote. Ordinarily, I put the original remote away and just use my universal remote. Not this time. Everyone but me wants the LG remote. It stays on the coffee table. But I'm not out of luck.Even though the LG remote is an RF remote, the TV accepts IR signals, so my universal remote will work with it. Well, up to a point. I can navigate using arrow keys, but there is no button to call up the "home" or "My Apps" menu. The upshot is that I'll be able to do all the non-smart functions with the universal remote, but apps and on-line content will require the LG remote. The Bottom LineThe LG is a smart, easy-to-use TV with a lot of really cool features. Picture quality is very good and highly adjustable. Plus it's a handsome piece of hardware with its thin frame and nearly all-glass face. Yes, I have a few gripes, but there were plenty of cool surprises to offset them. Five stars.

4Overall good product, minor flaws
By koty183
I can't say for the speakers on this set (I use an external system and the built in ones have never been used), so other people talking about it being muffled, I can't say. What I can say is the picture quality is wonderful. This TV is light, good quality picture, Passive 3D (big for me), and has no noticeable delay when gaming. Some problems, to get the PQ so good, they went with a glossy screen (seems to be somewhat the norm now) and this causes some reflections, but nothing too bad.The remote took some getting used to, but I have a universal remote if I just need to switch inputs. The remote it comes with is great in my opinion for navigating the menus and store, etc. It does a good job.One minor annoyance, if you move the remote a bit (move the table it's on, drop it, knock it off the couch, etc) it makes the cursor appear for a few seconds. This happened when watching netflix, but nothing too bad.The reason I gave it 4 stars is the netflix and hulu apps work well, but have this weird glitch that would happen every 5 minutes where it looks like it just panics and shows a lot of random cached pixels. I'm hoping this is a software issue that can be fixed.

    4Very nice matte screen
    By Edookatile
I just received this TV today. So far so good. I was seriously confused between 46b650 and 46b630 and I am very happy that I got 630. Since my room has good ambient light, I was looking for anti glare screen and 630 is a perfect fit. 650 is too glossy for my setting, it is very good for dark room setting but otherwise glare could be very annoying. Yes, 630 has 80000:1 vs 100000:1 for 650 and I did notice the slight difference in contrast. I am yet to tweak picture settings. I got this from Vanns for $1530, got it in 5 days with free shipping and free wall mount.UPDATE 1/22/11Too bad, just after about 18 months of usage, TV gave up. Fortunately I bought 3 year warranty from Amazon so I am getting reimbursement for replacement TV. Main board and Panel went bad.

    5Terrific TV, price, delivery!
    By K. Jones
After having spent several months researching, considering options, & agonizing over choices, I am completely happy with this TV - can actually say, `I love it!' Therefore, for the first time ever, I'm providing a customer review:Picture quality:SD very good & much better than expected; HD quality terrific.Better than what I expected based on the display loops they run at Best Buy. Motion flow produces very smooth picture.DVD quality:Terrific; better than expected. (Don't have Blu-ray)Matte screen:My room is very bright. Samsung's ultra-clear panel on the 650 model is as shiny & reflective as glass - like looking in a mirror. The 630's matte screen is perfect for my needs, yet I'm still getting a very clear picture with great contrast ratio. I only knew this model existed by reading customer comments at Amazon, as Samsung doesn't appear to promote this model.Settings:TV has lots of options for picture & sound settings. Easy to adjust, test, play around with.Connection to Cable Box/DVR:To be able to use my cable DVR remote with the TV, I had to call the cable company to get the volume control to work - just needed a special code.Sound:OK; better than expected.Set aesthetics:Attractive. Originally nervous about the red Touch of Color - but it is very subtle; looks more brown/burgundy. Does NOT look like the bright red stripe that is pictured in Amazon's product info.Amazon `Enhanced Delivery':Very good. Delivery by CEVA was on-time. Team of two guys took their shoes off at the door without being asked, unpacked the TV, mounted it on the stand, placed it on my TV console, & hooked up connections to cable.Warranty:Set comes with standard one-year warranty from Samsung. But, for peace of mind, I added an additional two-year warranty (for a total of 3-yrs coverage) offered by Square Trade for Amazon customers for just an extra $99. This Amazon/SquareTrade package is a much better extended warranty deal than I could have gotten from other retail or online sellers.

5The best non LED LCD out there
    By P. NARAYANAN
I decided to buy this TV after doing about 3 months of research. Initially I was ready to buy LED TV(which was additional $1000), but settled on this. The TV came in 2 DAYS!!! with the Free shipping.. I've been using this TV for the past 4 days, so far I love it. picture is probably the best on this tv. I have fios, which is great on this TV. I have this in my living room which has a lot of windows, it works great there. The audio i was a bit disappointing, but who cares, I'll be plugging this into my receiver. For this price you cannot beat it..far better than SONY (non led), and SHARP.Pros:-Great picture,-Great contrast, color,-HDMI connections.-Ethernet plug in for the Info Link and updating Firmware-USB HDD/Flash plug in for playing photos, movies (havent tried this yet)-Great Remote-User Interface is great-Lighter (40 lbs)-One man installationCons:-Speakers are sub par, you def need to hook up to home theater.

3Good TV but very clumsy "Smart" features & interface
    By Michael Sandman
The LG LS5700 is an OK TV. If I could, I'd give it 2-1/2 stars. The LS5700's selling point is supposed to be the "smart" features that let you connect to the Internet, get content from Netflix, Hulu Plus, etc. and share content from other devices in your network. It does have a nice crisp HD picture after you tweak the color settings, and so-so sound, as expected. But if that's all you want in a TV there are less expensive alternatives. Unfortunately, the interface for using the "smart TV" features is very clumsy. And although the manual does a good job of showing how to connect the TV, it has almost nothing on how to use the "smart" features. The built-in menus are supposed to do that. The on-screen menus and LG's online support are minimal at best, and just plain wrong in one case (see below). On the plus side, the TV connected easily to my home network, using either WiFi or an Ethernet cable. And the "smart" features do work, if you can stand the interface However, this is TV is not the user-friendly web-integrated TV I was hoping for. That's still some time in the future. The TV includes a remote that's used to access the "smart" features and also to set up the TV, connect to your WiFi network, etc. It has sort of an air mouse pointer that shows up on the screen. When you use features that require entering text, there's an on-screen QWERTY keyboard that you click on with the remote control's pointer. Using the on-screen keyboard is just plain horrible. It's very slow and the remote's pointer is slow and somewhat jerky. If you get into the TV's setup menu you can change the pointer's setting to "fast", which helps a bit, but the on-screen keyboard is hopeless. It's not mentioned in the manual, but you can attach a wireless keyboard through a USB port. That lets you enter text more easily than you can with the on-screen keyboard. But the wireless mouse that pairs with my new wireless keyboard doesn't work. LG tech support says the set can take only one user input even though there are three USB ports. (They responded very quickly -- within hours -- to their credit.) So you have to use the remote control to do the pointing. What this TV really needs is a remote with a decent pointer and a little pull-out keyboard or a keyboard on the back. Samsung, Sony and Viszio (among others) do that; I would have been a lot happier with the set if LG did the same thing. There's an iPhone app from LG that could (in theory) make the interface better. It's supposed to allow you to control the TV from an iPhone. The app doesn't have a keyboard, according to reviews on iTunes, so it's not perfect. Far worse, although the LG web site specifically mentions that the LS5700 series is compatible with the app, the app doesn't work with this model. This was confirmed by LG tech support, and the app's information tab has a list of supported models includes the LW5700 series, but not the LS5700 series. To access music, photos or video on your home network using the DLNA capability, you need to download an application from the LG website to your computer. The TV's setup menu does mention that you need to have media sharing software, but you have to dig deeply into the on-screen menus to find out.Perhaps LG intends to update the iPhone app, or the set's firmware, or offer a compatible remote with a keyboard and a better pointer. But until then, avoid this model if you want easy-to-use "smart TV" features. The interface on this set is not ready for prime time. (EDITED 3-30-2012)

    4Good "smart" HDTV
    By Elizabeth
This was not only my first HDTV purchase ever, but my first TV purchase, period. I'd managed to live with hand-me-down and garage-sale TVs up til now, but I decided I wanted something nice for a change. I don't subscribe to cable or satellite television, so I wanted something that had some built-in "smart" capabilities. I also wanted something that wasn't going to break the bank. I really dislike 3D content, so I decidedly did NOT want a 3D TV. Finding a nice TV that has smart features and *isn't* 3D is getting harder and harder. For the most part, this TV has fit the bill, and I've been happy with my purchase.I thought about putting together a list of pros and cons, but that didn't really seem to work too well with this particular review, so I've listed some general notes below:-- PICTURE QUALITYIn a word, excellent. Granted, I don't have a whole lot to compare it to, but it's one of the best I've seen. Blacks are good, as are whites. Images are nice and crisp when viewing HD content.-- TURNING OFF TRUMOTIONThe one thing that gave me a real headache with this TV was figuring out how to turn off the TruMotion setting. I know some people are really jazzed about the 120 Hz view and the lack of motion blur, but to me, it made everything look like I was watching a soap opera. (Don't know what I'm talking about? Google "soap opera effect.")So I turned it off. That was easy enough: Settings -->' Picture '--> Picture Option '--> TruMotion '--> OFF. There, fixed! Or so I thought. It fixed it for the TV input. But then I started watching something on Netflix (via the app on the TV), and the dreaded soap-opera effect was back!It took me several days of online searching and talking to friends before I figured out that you have to REPEAT THIS process for EVERY SINGLE INPUT. (e.g. Input '--> HDMI 1 -->' Settings '--> Picture '--> Picture Settings '--> TruMotion '--> OFF.) And for the built-in apps, like Netflix, you have to start a video, then go the QMENU -->' Set Video -->' Picture Option '--> TruMotion -->' OFF.Once you've set it for each input and app, though, it does stay defaulted to that. So at least you only have to do it once, not every time you start a new video. I found no online documentation ANYWHERE that specified this, though, so I thought it was definitely worth mentioning in this review. Hopefully it will help someone else.-- SOUND QUALITYNot as great, though not as bad as some flat-panels I've heard. You can turn it up as loud as you want, but after about the half-way point on the volume scale, there's not much difference. It's the same way with my parents' LG HDTV, which is a few years old. I solved this problem by hooking up an external home stereo system (Sony BRAVIA DAV-DZ170 Home Theater System) and bypassing the TV's built-in audio altogether.-- "SMART" FEATURESThe "smart" features were one of the selling points for me. When it comes down to it, though, I only really use 2 of them - Netflix and Hulu Plus. Some of the reviews (and comments on reviews) suggested that this unit might have an Amazon Instant Video app. It does not. Let me repeat: THIS TV DOES NOT HAVE AN AMAZON INSTANT VIDEO APP. And from what I can tell from various sources online, it never will. No idea why, since there are other LG HDTVs that do. This one just isn't one of them. One user suggested that it just required a firmware update. My firmware is up to date, and there is still no Amazon app. Sorry, people. It just doesn't exist. The "premium" apps this TV comes with (or at least, the ones mine came with) are:-- Vudu-- Hulu Plus-- MOG-- AccuWeather.com-- MLB.TV-- Netflix-- CinemaNow-- YouTube-- NHL-- vTuner-- Associated Press-- Facebook-- Picasa-- Google Maps-- Twitter-- ViewsterThe LG app store is a joke. Forget finding anything you would ever want, much less be willing to pay for, in that store. The online browser is also a joke. If you have to view a website on your TV (e.g. a network television website or Amazon Instant, etc. to view a video), your best bet is to hook up a computer via HDMI. Don't bother trying to do it with the built-in browser. It may work, but it won't work well, and it will be a painful experience. Trust me, I tried. The YouTube app is pretty weak. It works, but it's less user-friendly than even the mobile YouTube website. Good luck finding anything specific. The Netflix and Hulu Plus apps work well enough. They're not as user-friendly to navigate through as their respective websites, but that's to be expected, and I've found that it's easy enough just to queue up things on the computer first, and then play them from the TV apps. That saves you a lot of annoying "typing" with the magic remote.I haven't tried any of the others. I see absolutely no reason why I would want to view Google maps, Associated Press content, Twitter or Facebook on my TV. I don't watch sports, so the MLB.TV and NHL apps are of no use to me. I have no idea how well they work. I'm a pretty loyal Pandora user, so I haven't tried MOG. I just plug in my iPhone to my stereo system when I want to listen to music.-- SMART SHAREIt works, but it's not very user-friendly, in my experience. I was able to connect my Win7 laptop to the TV without much difficulty, but it's virtually impossible to search for a particular song or album or artist via the Smart Share interface - browsing seems to be the only option, and that can be a real pain when you have a LOT of music/videos/etc. to scroll through.Streaming music seems to work just fine, but streaming video resulted in a lot of lag, and I've got a great WiFi network set up here. Anything over about 480p just doesn't really stream well on this TV, in my experience. It also seems to lock up the TV frequently, requiring you to turn it off and on again before you can do anything.-- THE "MAGIC" REMOTEMany people have complained that this thing is annoying. I don't have a problem with it. It's like a Wii remote: you wave it around, and the cursor on screen follows your movement. There aren't a lot of buttons on it, though - volume up/down, channel up/down, Home (which takes you to the main app/input selection screen), Back (which exits out of the screen you're in), a scroll wheel that serves as channel up/down when you scroll and an "enter/select" key when you press it, a Help button, and an Input button.Since I don't have cable TV, I don't have a lot of channels to scroll through when I'm watching actual television, so the lack of a number pad doesn't bother me. But I would find it annoying to have to use a different remote or manage to figure out how to bring up the on-screen number pad if I had hundreds of channels at my disposal and wanted to go to a particular channel instead of just scrolling through them all.The remote sometimes takes a moment to register, too. I've found that you have to wave it around for a second or two before the TV realizes you want to do something and brings up the cursor. I frequently have to recalibrate it, too, by waving it around in a figure-eight motion, to get it to actually recognize my motions.-- SIMPhttp://amzn.com/dp/B006ZH0N68/?tag={komponelektr-20}Works nicely. It was pretty easy to hook up my home theater system so that it turns on and off automatically with the TV.-- THE INPUTSThe inputs all seem fine, and they're plentiful. I don't have that many devices that needed connecting - a DVD player/home theater system and occasionally my laptop (when I want to watch something on Amazon Instant Video or something on another website). It's easy to swap between inputs.-- THE OUTPUTSIt's a little annoying that this TV only supports digital optical audio out, with no other analog options, but I guess it's not really unexpected, given the cost of the system. It hasn't posed a problem for me, but it's something to be aware of if you have an older stereo system that doesn't support that kind of input.-- THE PHYSICAL STRUCTURE OF THE UNITI was actually pretty impressed with this. I'd heard horror stories about how unstable and top-heavy HDTVs could be. I bought the 42" and have it mounted on the stand that came with it. It feels pretty sturdy to me. I have cats who seem to think the space between the back of the TV and the wall is the perfect hiding place, and while I definitely do not approve of them being back there (and make them move every time I witness it), they haven't even nudged it.The swivel feature is also useful, since I have it positioned at one angle when I'm watching alone, but want it angled more to the left when there are more people watching, due to the position of my sofa. Swiveling the TV on the stand doesn't feel unstable at all, which I was a little worried about initially.-- PRICEThe price on this unit is excellent. You won't find a lower price anywhere, and if you do - even if it's after you've already made your purchase (as long as it's within 14 days of delivery) - Amazon will honor it, per their "TV Low Price Guarantee" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200556860). I purchased this unit at $749, and by the time it shipped, the Amazon price was already $20 lower. They reimbursed me the difference, which was really nice. I see now it's even cheaper. While there are some quirks with the system, this is an unbeatable price for a great TV.

    4"magic remote" is pretty annoying
    By kuznetsov
"Magic remote" is pretty annoying. TV itself seems to be good - reasonable sound, reasonable image. I decided to buy this model because of good viewing angle range and better than average sound. I do not care much about the 3D features that manufacturers are promoting. Please note - the "magic remote" was the only one provided. IMHO this is one of those occasions when being cute and creative trumped being useful. I really wish I would have a more traditional remote together with this TV. Changing options and settings is not very easy.

    4Excellent TV, excellent Amazon experience!
    By jrulong
So far, this TV ROCKS! I bought from Amazon because the price was fantastic, shipping was free, no tax, and I used gift certificates from a certain grocery store, which gave me $ off at the gas pump. All of this was, of course, after selecting Samsung and this specific model, and then shopping around for price. I knew I wanted a 46" LCD for my living room, so I started looking. At 1st, I was gonna get the Toshiba 46G300U for $650 during Black Friday at Shmears, but after visiting many stores, I was drawn to Samsung's picture clarity. Just amazing! A store I liked a lot was HHShmeggs because they had so many to choose from and the store lighting in the TV section was closest to my actual living room. So, I ordered from Amazon and a few days later, there were 2 delivery guys at my front door. The TV got to me before some things that I ordered days earlier! They brought Bessie in and were somewhat conscious of my carpet by asking if I had something to set the box on (never mind that they were wearing their shoes, but I digress). I grabbed an old blanket and they set her down. They asked if they can open it to check the screen and I said yes. They slid it out carefully and set it down. We all looked over the screen with a flashlight. Everything looked good. I had them place it back in the box to allow it to get to room temp before setting it up. They had me sign that it was in good physical shape, but they listed that I didn't power up the TV because it was cold. They left and I smiled at my new television. While waiting for Bessie to get to room temp, I assembled the stand with 4 provided screws and read over the manual. Turns out this TV has a LAN port, which I did not see in any spec listing for this TV. This is nice because you can check for firmware/software upgrades over the Internet. My new U-Verse cable receiver has a LAN jack, so I have an ethernet cable between it and the TV. I checked for upgrades, but did not find any. The TV has software from October, so I wasn't surprised that no upgrades were available. The TV's Menu system is pretty good. I haven't had much trouble finding any settings I was looking for. There's also a button labeled Tools, which gives you quick access to a few settings you may use more frequently. The remote itself is nice. It has a backlight button to see better in low light, which is always a plus. I would like if I could label my inputs with custom labels. For instance, I have a media player and the closest label they have is PVR STB. If I could just label it Media Player, the Mrs and the kids would have an easier time selecting the correct input. I would also like to hide inputs that are not used. That would make flipping through them much quicker. Some have said that they do not like Samsung's Motion Plus feature because it makes movies look like fake soap operas. This is true for some of the Motion Plus modes, like Standard, but there's one called Clear, which looked just fine. As far as the Standard mode, it does have it's place. I found that it makes animated movies like Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Kung Fu Panda, etc look almost 3D. My toddler absolutely loves the effect! I set his animated movies to Dynamic color and Standard motion plus for an awesome looking picture. Samsung's color is just amazing! Dynamic color mode is very bright, but for movies like The Matrix, I use Movie Mode to see more detail in darker scenes. One catch is keeping the TV clean. This thing is a dust magnet in my house. They do provide a special cleaning cloth where you just use water, but I think I will be using it very often. I think I may pick up a swiffer duster for dusting the set and just use the cloth when there is more build up.The TV did not come with a safety strap to tether it to my wooden stand, but since it sits so far back on my stand, I don't think my toddler will try to reach it. I'll have a close eye on him just in case. He knows that touching Bessie is off limits, but you know how toddlers can be...Well, that's it for now. I'll update if I think of anything else...

    5Great Picture & Feature Set.
    By Fred C
Well I was a little hesitant at first purchasing a product in this day and age when reviews can make or break a product. Having read only one review being that it was fairly new to market made me feel un-easy about making this purchase. But then again its a Samsung LCD and not just some run of the mill product. What was I looking for in an LCD? Nothing special, just the best features and quality that I can get for the money. So not being an expert (who is?) I just compared must have features on top of the line LCD units and made sure they were included in this Samsung LN46C600 flat panel set. To my surprise just about every feature was included and some. Same top of the line features as the much higher priced units. The picture quality was amazing and I'm glad that I stuck to my guns with my wife and got the unit that had 120 Hz verses 60 Hz. You really do see a difference in the picture (motion blur) when seeing action shots on an LCD. This unit has a feature called auto motion plus which kicks in and smooths out the action. I have no idea how it works but it does and having a very critical eye for picture quality I was impressed. One thing you might want to consider is the kind of wall mount that you choose. I always went for a tilt wall mount. Stuck in a fixed position. Not this time. I wanted to make sure that I could see this unit from almost any angle in my living room. So I opted for an articulating full motion wall mount. I checked into these types of mounts and could not believe how expensive they were, $300 plus. I was ready to throw up my hands on this idea when I ran accross a mount made by a company called Cheetah on Amazon. They have mounts that hold up to 165 lbs. and cost only $79 bucs. So now I'm a happy camper. Listen we can sit here and rave about this LCD and at the end of the day your going to have to decide what works for you. But you will be very satisfied with this purchase. The price is right and like I said the feature set and picture quality just can't be beat. Enjoy!!!

    3Samsung LCD TV
    By Xpert1
I own two of the Samsung LCD TV's a 52" and 46" and both have the same problem. Both TV's have the same defect that only shows up after the one year warranty was up. They fail to power on like they did when new. They click and click then after about 20-30 minutes finally come on. The problem is well known. Samsung bought cheap malaysian capacitors that fail after time. The power supply boards use 4 of these on each TV. I checked with several Samsung repair shops and they wanted between $400-$800 to fix. I bought a new board online for $95 and replaced myself. Now that I know I purchased quality replacement panasonic capacitors of a higher temp and farad rating and had the old board updated. The 12v buss and 10v cheap capacitors are the problem. The better panasonic capacitors cost $1.08 each. I own many Samsung products and they are usually better than the competition, however Samsung dropped the ball on these TV's. My 52" was the top of the line model and cost $3,200. Samsung will only stand behind them until the 1 yr warranty is up. Buyers beware of the common capacitor problems.

2Pyle DC TV for my RV
    By David
I was excited to purchase this TV so we could watch DVD's while camping on 12V with it's built in DVD player. It also has a tuner so it picked up a few over the air digital channels. We installed it in our RV and went camping the same weekend we received it. The first evening in the campground, we put a DVD in it and the DVD refused to play it. We tried another DVD, same issue. The player was defective. We contacted the factory and they promptly issued an RGA, but it cost me $60 to ship it back to them. I am currently waiting for my replacement. I will give the next one another chance to perform. Unfortunately, we did not even get to play a movie to rate it's screen.

    5Extremely Happy,
    By soll
I have numerous LCD TVs but they are all larger than this one. I wanted a 15.6'' inch for ease of portability and the ability to take it on trips and to be used in different rooms as needed. Without getting technical, this unit seems to have a very sharp picture, great contrast and brightness, and a easy to use remote. The DVD player is high quality and for a DVD model the price is on believable. and with Removable Base Stand you put it on the wall I'm sure you will be glad you chose this TV...it's a rarity.

We put this TV in van as a replacement. I didn't know how to hook it into speaker system, but it's loud enough for kids to hear. Easy to use and we love it!!!!!!!!!!
